Yoshio Ikemachi, will grace this event as special guests, adding depth and excitement to this fantastic rally.
The Spirit of SSTR
Founded by motorcycle adventurer
Makoto Kazama, the SSTR is not just a race but a celebration of adventure and the journey itself. Participants launch from the eastern coast at dawn, aiming to reach
Chirihama Nagisa Driveway by sunset. This event embodies the spirit of adventure, originally inspired by Kazama's historic completion of the
Paris-Dakar Rally in 1982, making him the first Japanese to finish this grueling race. The SSTR2026 aims to communicate the importance of challenge and the spirit of adventure in our society, thanks to the participation of these two riders who carry on that spirit.
Shinya Fujiwara's Participation
On
May 23, 2026,
Shinya Fujiwara, known as the “
Bussashi Sensei,” will take part alongside general participants. In 2023, he completed the Dakar Rally, showcasing his outstanding motorcycle control and indomitable spirit. Despite facing a significant injury, he successfully covered approximately 8,000 kilometers, marking a remarkable achievement by finishing on his first attempt. Fujiwara’s background in trials has equipped him with the skills necessary to navigate challenging terrains, and his participatory spirit will undoubtedly inspire participants and fans alike.
Insights from Yoshio Ikemachi

Yoshio Ikemachi, who has competed in both two-wheeled and four-wheeled divisions of the Dakar Rally, will join the event. Alongside Kazama and
Shin Nosuke Kazama, Ikemachi will share his insights on the essence of adventure found in extreme nature challenges. With an impressive career spanning several decades, Ikemachi is recognized for his outstanding achievements, including a remarkable top-ten finish in the motorcycle category in 2000 and victories as a works driver in the four-wheel division. Even at 50, he continues to push his limits, echoing the rally's ideals of perseverance and adventure.
What Makes SSTR Unique?
The
SSTR is Japan’s largest touring rally, emphasizing not just speed but the journey and adventure. Since its inception in 2013 with only 130 participants, SSTR has evolved into a grand celebration for riders across the nation. The unique format allows participants to set their route while making mandatory stops to earn points using a proprietary GPS system. Unlike traditional races, the focus is on personal goals rather than placement or technique.
The rally fosters teamwork, as local residents, governments, and businesses actively support and cheer for the participants. This spirit of community involvement elevates the entire experience, making each rider’s journey a collective celebration.
