Brooklyn Brewery to Open New Location at 1 Wythe Avenue This Summer
Brooklyn Brewery to Open New Location at 1 Wythe Avenue
After 30 years since the inception of its renowned Williamsburg tasting room in 1996, Brooklyn Brewery is thrilled to announce the opening of its new facility at 1 Wythe Avenue, just a few blocks from the original site. The brewery plans to host a soft opening this summer, with an official grand opening celebration anticipated for the fall.
This new space signifies a major growth phase for Brooklyn Brewery, featuring nearly four times the capacity of the previous location. This expansion will allow the brewery to evolve from a conventional tasting room into a sophisticated venue for brewing, culinary experiences, and cultural events. The move underscores Brooklyn Brewery's long-standing commitment to fostering community spirit in a lively and welcoming setting—part brewery, part gathering place, and part cultural hub.
Eric Ottaway, CEO of Brooklyn Brewery, expressed excitement about the new chapter: “We've dedicated three decades to building something extraordinary on North 11th Street, and now we can integrate everything we've learned into a space that truly reflects our journey. Our new location will enhance our capabilities with a kitchen, outdoor areas, and diverse programming, allowing us to explore new creative avenues.”
One of the most exciting developments in the new home is the addition of a full kitchen, exploring culinary delights that beautifully complement Brooklyn Brewery's beers. Partnering with Chef Michael Ayoub, a prominent name in New York’s Neapolitan-style pizza scene, the menu promises a delightful range of offerings centered around pizza and dishes designed to pair perfectly with the brewery's beverages. The innovative space will boast a dedicated demo kitchen featuring advanced audiovisual technology, ready to facilitate live-streaming culinary events and collaborative projects.
Besides an enriched beer selection, the brewery plans to introduce a wider array of beverages, which includes wines and cocktails, ensuring an experience suited for casual gatherings and vibrant evenings out. Brooklyn Brewery's commitment to cultural programming will remain unwavering; the updated facilities will feature an extensive AV system connecting all three floors, perfect for music events, talks, DJ performances, and community gatherings.
With a design that maintains the industrial charm Brooklyn Brewery is known for, the new building embraces features such as cement flooring, raw materials, and lofty ceilings bathed in natural light. The space includes a huge gathering area called the ‘Main Hall’ on the ground floor, which hosts a central bar, a retail shop, and plenty of seating options for both relaxed drinks and more elaborate meals. The extensive windows and door features provide a refreshing connection to the outdoors, enhancing the atmosphere as the seasons change.
A significant benefit of the new site is the expanded brewing capabilities, allowing for more small-batch and experimental brewing processes. This reinforces Brooklyn Brewery’s mission as a global R&D center, where innovative beers and unique collaborations can be born. Moreover, brewery tours will resume, accompanied by guided tastings and experiential events that provide guests with deeper insights into the creative brewing techniques that have defined the brand.
Garrett Oliver, the award-winning Brewmaster at Brooklyn Brewery, reflects on the exciting changes: “The evolution of this neighborhood over the last 30 years is remarkable. Now, we have the opportunity to innovate within a state-of-the-art brewing facility while broadening our horizons beyond just beer. The new space will unify my passions for beer, wine, cocktails, and culinary arts under one roof.
