CATL Unveils Largest NING SERVICE Experience Center in Norway
On September 24, 2026, CATL inaugurated its biggest NING SERVICE experience center in Oslo, Norway, marking a significant expansion of its services dedicated to the battery lifecycle in the European market. This modern facility spans over 8,000 square meters and aims to serve both Norway and the broader Nordic region by offering a range of battery-related services, training local technicians, and supporting the growth of the circular economy initiatives in the area.
Norway's Electric Vehicle Market
Norway stands out as a leader in electric vehicle (EV) adoption globally. The country recorded that 98.7% of new passenger car registrations were electric as of August 2026, with electric buses accounting for more than 60% of bus and coach registrations. As the number of EVs continues to increase and age, the demand for diagnostic, repair, and battery lifespan extension services rises correspondingly. To address this critical need, CATL designed its Norwegian center specifically to provide comprehensive support for EV batteries throughout their lifecycle.
Comprehensive Battery Lifecycle Services
Building on its expertise in research and development as well as manufacturing, CATL's NING SERVICE encompasses all battery lifecycle phases, including testing, maintenance, repairs, warranties, second-life utilization, and recycling. Their services cater to various sectors, including transport, energy storage, and robotics. NING SERVICE has redefined the spare parts market by prioritizing battery repairs over replacements, achieving a notable reduction in complex repair turnaround time from 72 to 48 hours. The repair capability covers approximately 76.8% of EV models, adhering to the high-quality standards set by CATL’s production chain. Moreover, the Intelligent Eagle Eye system, implemented in over 150 repair shops, ensures thorough traceability and rigorous quality control.
Promoting Circular Economy and Local Training
In alignment with its vision for sustainable practices, CATL launched the Global Energy Circularity Commitment (GECC) in partnership with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation. This initiative is designed to foster a secondary market ecosystem that prolongs battery life and facilitates the reuse of materials for new battery production. "In a circular economy, batteries continue to provide value for as long as possible, with their materials recycled to create new ones. Inspection, maintenance, and repair services are crucial to achieving this on a large scale," stated Miranda Schnitger, Head of Climate Issues at the Ellen MacArthur Foundation.
The center is positioned to generate skilled green jobs and will become the primary training hub for NING SERVICE in the Nordic countries. Drawing from a training network that spans 39 European countries and a team of 14 experienced trainers, the center will offer certified CATL training and hands-on programs aimed at local technicians. Additionally, NING SERVICE intends to strengthen collaborations with Norwegian universities and technical institutions to develop local competencies further.
Bringing Services Closer to Customers
To enhance its global presence, CATL emphasizes establishing local infrastructures and partnerships within the ecosystem. The Norwegian center will function as a pivotal part of NING SERVICE's European network, striving to deliver high-quality service closer to customers, in line with its promise of being "your new energy service expert, close to you." Benedikt G. Gudmundsson, founder and president of YES-EU Group, expressed, "CATL brings its technology, industry expertise, and trusted brand, while leveraging local knowledge and service capabilities from YES-EU to build a stronger battery service ecosystem in the Nordic countries and support the long-term growth of the European EV market."
"Customers are at the heart of everything we do at NING SERVICE. In close collaboration with our local partners, we will provide reliable lifecycle services that meet the demands of the Norwegian EV market and support its ongoing electrification," said Bruce Li, president of quality management systems at CATL's Aftermarket Business Division.
Currently, NING SERVICE operates 1,394 service points across 85 countries and regions, with ambitious plans to expand to 100 countries and establish 10,000 service points by 2030.
