The Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box 8K: Transforming Home Entertainment
On July 10, Signify Japan, headquartered in Shinagawa, Tokyo, announced the release of its latest entertainment-focused device, the
Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box 8K. This device caters to the growing demand for high-resolution video, gaming, and music by supporting the latest HDMI 2.1 standard. Available for purchase on Amazon and Rakuten Market, this technology propels the experience of home cinema to new heights.
What’s New with the HDMI Sync Box 8K?
Developed as a successor to the original HDMI Sync Box, the new HDMI Sync Box 8K allows users to synchronize 8K visuals and Hue lights seamlessly. By receiving data directly from the source before it reaches the screen, the device eliminates lag, ensuring real-time synchronization between the visuals and ambient lighting. Transform your living room into a surround lighting experience that is enveloping and immersive.
Up to four HDMI devices can be connected to the Sync Box, and users can easily control synchronization through voice commands via smart speakers. Simply say, “Start light synchronization” to initiate an immersive experience that complements your content flawlessly.
Enjoy Ambient Surround Lighting
By strategically placing Hue lights behind your TV or PC monitor, as well as alongside or above it, you can create what’s called “surround lighting.” Using
TV Light Strip as a backlight,
Light Tube at the bottom, and additional
Floor Lights or
Table Lamps on the sides can elevate your enjoyment to unprecedented levels of realism.
What You Need for Hue Entertainment Integration
To synchronize Hue lights with your visuals, games, or music, you’ll need:
- - Hue Full Color Lights
- - Hue Bridge
- - HDMI Sync Box
Various HDMI-enabled devices, including consoles, streaming devices, and media players, are compatible with the Hue entertainment system. It’s worth noting that terrestrial TV broadcasts and smart TV apps (LG TV apps included) on PC Netflix are not supported.
For music synchronization with Spotify, a Spotify account is required, although the Sync Box is not necessary.
Simple Setup Process
Configuring the Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box 8K is straightforward and user-friendly:
1. Install the Hue Full Color Lights and connect the Hue Bridge to your Wi-Fi router via an Ethernet cable.
2. Connect the HDMI Sync Box between your HDMI device and TV.
3. Follow the instructions provided by the Hue app for setup.
You can connect up to four HDMI devices and a maximum of ten Hue Full Color Lights. The Hue app also allows customization of color, brightness, and synchronization intensity tailored to your videos, games, or music, enabling unique and personalized lighting effects.
Expanding the Philips Hue Series
Signify continues to enhance the Philips Hue line-up to deliver enriched smart lighting experiences to many households. These smart lighting solutions increase the quality of life through their various features:
- - Improving Well-Being with Light: Users can leverage ‘light recipes’ and scheduling options to automatically switch from energizing lighting in the morning to focused lighting during work hours and relaxing tones for the evening. This adaptability creates a balanced environment that promotes well-being.
- - Enhanced Control with Hue Bridge: By connecting to an optional Hue Bridge, users can control multiple rooms’ lights (Bluetooth support connects lights only within a single room) and enjoy additional functions, such as remote operation and motion sensor compatibility. Moreover, it allows for synchronization of Hue lights with your entertainment, enriching your overall experience.
Philips Hue has been a pioneer in the smart lighting industry since its Japan debut in September 2013. The brand has continually expanded its product range and collaborations to enhance sleep and wake cycles, optimize work and relaxation times, and elevate entertainment experiences.
