U.S. Coast Guard Revives Top 10 Videos Tradition

A beloved tradition of the U.S. Coast Guard is making a comeback as part of its 236th birthday celebration. After nearly ten years of absence, the Coast Guard Mutual Assistance (CGMA) is thrilled to announce the return of the Top 10 Videos of the Year Competition. This engaging event, which showcases the most remarkable Coast Guard operations, rescues, and training missions, kicks off with a two-week countdown beginning July 21, 2026.

Celebrating Coast Guard Missions

The Top 10 Videos Competition is not just about showcasing visually stunning footage. It's an opportunity for the American public to gain insight into the expansive capabilities and impactful missions of the U.S. Coast Guard. The competition highlights the tireless efforts of Coast Guard personnel and their families, honoring their invaluable contributions to ensuring maritime safety and security.

Brooke Millard, CEO of Coast Guard Mutual Assistance, emphasized the necessity of recognizing those who serve. “The Coast Guard's story is best told through the actions of its people. These videos capture extraordinary missions carried out in some of the most demanding environments on Earth. Behind every rescue or operation is a Coast Guard member and their family carrying the demands of service,” she stated.

This year’s event will unveil one video each weekday, counting down from number ten to number one. The People’s Choice Video of the Year will be revealed on August 5, just following the Coast Guard's birthday.

Exciting Competition Highlights

The ten featured videos are selected from materials released by the Coast Guard and its supporting government agencies between the two most recent Coast Guard Days. Some exciting contenders this year include:
  • - Great Lakes Icebreaking: Showcasing the formidable capabilities of Coast Guard Cutters Mackinaw and Neah Bay.
  • - Force From Above: Celebrating HITRON's 1,000th interdiction.
  • - Cape Hatteras Rescue: Featuring a dramatic rescue of two individuals and their pets 65 miles offshore.
  • - CGC Munro's Patrol: Encompassing a 119-day patrol focusing on counter-drug and maritime security missions.

Voting for the videos allows fans to like, share, and comment on their favorites across various CGMA social media platforms. For those eager to amplify their votes, donations can be made to specific videos, adding additional votes while providing financial support to CGMA's mission to assist Coast Guard members and their families.

“The Top 10 gives people a chance to celebrate what the Coast Guard does and support the people who make those missions possible,
