Under the leadership of General Manager Katsushi Nishikawa, the hotel successfully conducted its first soap collection on March 31, 2025. This initiative is a part of a broader effort to minimize waste in the hospitality industry, particularly focusing on the recycling of used soap bars by hotel guests.

Clean the World® is an American social enterprise dedicated to improving hygiene standards globally. The organization collaborates with various hotels to collect discarded soap and toiletries, which are then recycled into new hygiene products and distributed to communities in need. Since its inception in 2009, Clean the World has distributed over 70 million soap bars across 127 countries, significantly contributing to public health improvements in underprivileged areas.

In Asia, BELLUSTAR TOKYO is partnering with Clean the World Asia, which boasts collaborations with 89 hotels across five regions: Japan, Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, and Taiwan. Since 2014, this initiative has successfully recycled over 537 tons of soap, providing more than 4 million soap bars to charitable organizations throughout Asia.

The First Collection

During the initial collection, BELLUSTAR TOKYO gathered three cartons of used soap from guests, which would have otherwise been discarded. These soaps are now on their way to a recycling factory in Hong Kong, where they will be transformed into new soap products. This not only helps in reducing waste but also aids in the hygiene improvement efforts of Clean the World®.
