Free Veterans Advocacy Workshop to Connect Veterans with Important Benefits and Local Resources

Veterans Advocacy Workshop: Empowering Those Who Served

On April 22, 2026, the Bronx Museum of the Arts will host a free Veterans Advocacy and Resource Workshop specifically for veterans and their families. The event is scheduled to take place from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM, offering a comprehensive range of benefits and resources crucial for veterans to thrive after their service.

This workshop is made possible through a joint effort by Gang and Associates in cooperation with esteemed organizations such as the New York State Defenders Association, Services for the Underserved (SUS), and the New York State Department of Veterans Services. The aim is to bridge the gap between veterans and the vital support that often remains out of reach.

What to Expect at the Workshop

The day will be filled with expert-led sessions, guidance from seasoned advocates, and opportunities for veterans to engage one-on-one with service providers. Attendees will have the chance to learn about a variety of critical issues, including:
  • - VA Disability Benefits: Navigate the complexities of claiming benefits.
  • - The Veterans Defense Program: Learn about programs that protect veterans’ rights.
  • - VA Claims and Appeals Strategies: Gain insights into strengthening your claims and understanding the appeals process.
  • - Peer Support Services: Connect with peers who understand your journey and can offer invaluable emotional support.
  • - Legal Advocacy Guidance: Receive direction on your legal rights and options.
  • - Housing and Employment Resources: Explore diverse resources aimed at improving your housing and job prospects.
  • - Discharge Upgrades: Understand the process for upgrading your discharge status if applicable.
  • - Community Resources for Veterans: Discover local resources aimed at improving your quality of life.

This will be more than just an information session; it is designed to inspire action. Veterans will have the liberty to ask pressing questions directly to experienced professionals in the field, ensuring they leave the workshop not only informed, but also with actionable steps they can take to improve their situation.

A Commitment to Veterans

Eric Gang, the founder of Veterans Disability Info and an advocate for veterans, emphasizes the importance of such workshops. "This isn't just an event, it's a commitment to stand up for every veteran who's been overlooked by the country they fought for. We want to break down barriers and ensure that no veteran feels alone in their fight for support," he says.

Eric Gang has built a reputable career as an attorney focused on helping veterans wrongfully denied benefits. With over 1,000 appeals successfully litigated, Eric's commitment to veterans is further highlighted by the release of his book, Betrayal of Valor: An Exposé of a Horribly Flawed Veteran's Administration, shedding light on the ongoing issues within the system.
