Markel International Welcomes Sucheng Chang as Asia Pacific Leader

On June 9, 2025, Markel Insurance, part of Markel Group Inc. (NYSE: MKL), declared the appointment of Sucheng Chang as its Managing Director for the Asia Pacific region. Set to take the helm on July 14, Chang will lead Markel’s regional operations, headquartered in Singapore, with offices spread across Australia, Hong Kong, China, India, Malaysia, and Dubai.

In this pivotal role, Chang is tasked with defining the strategic vision for Markel International's business in Asia Pacific, predominantly focusing on boosting profitable growth and delivering outstanding service to clients and brokers alike. The Asia Pacific sector of Markel International has experienced remarkable growth lately, largely attributed to the company’s Accelerate Asia Pacific strategy, which has propelled its Gross Written Premiums (GWP) up by around 600% since 2019. Under Chang's leadership, the company's emphasis will remain on sustaining this trajectory of growth while enhancing operational efficiencies and customer satisfaction.

Chang brings a wealth of experience from his previous role as CEO of Aon Hong Kong, where he significantly advanced the company’s presence and performance in the competitive insurance landscape. Before Aon, Chang spent over 13 years at Liberty Mutual, holding key strategic positions, including Chief Distribution Officer and CEO of Liberty Insurance Singapore. His educational background includes an MBA from Yale University and a BA from Boston University, further enriching his leadership profile.
