Discover the Wonder of Confectionery Art This Summer at the Kikkoman Art Museum!
Summer is here, and what better way to celebrate than by diving into the enchanting world of confectionery art? Starting from
August 10 to 28, 2025, the
Kikkoman Art Museum will host a fantastic exhibition showcasing stunning edible art, including the award-winning piece titled
'Kabireichou'. This impressive exhibition promises to delight visitors of all ages with its intricate designs and vibrant colors.
What is Confectionery Art?
Confectionery art is an exquisite form of artistry crafted entirely from edible materials such as sugar, white bean paste, and rice flour. These ingredients are skillfully manipulated and colored to create lifelike representations of plants and animals, showcasing the talent and creativity of the artisans. The artists bend, shape, and blend these elements to produce mesmerizing art pieces that are not only beautiful to look at but also edible! It's a combination of culinary skill and artistic expression that leaves many in awe.
The Award-Winning 'Kabireichou'
One of the main highlights of this exhibition is the
'Kabireichou', a confectionery art piece that won the prestigious
Honorary President's Award at the
28th National Confectionery Grand Exhibition held in Hokkaido from May 30 to June 15. This ornate creation features a pair of peacocks elegantly poised amidst a grand display of blooming peonies. With around
7,300 intricate parts for the peacock's decorative feathers and approximately
2,600 pieces of peony leaves, this piece showcases stunning craftsmanship and monumental attention to detail.
Visitors to the exhibition can expect to be enchanted by the delicate craftsmanship and creativity exhibited in 'Kabireichou'. It perfectly encapsulates the beauty of Japanese confectionery, transforming it into a captivating visual experience. This is a unique opportunity to see Japan's best confectionery art up close!
Fun Activities Await!
To make the exhibition even more engaging, a fun quiz will be held during the event. Participants will have to count the number of
Shima Enaga (a type of Japanese bird) cleverly hidden within the 'Kabireichou' artwork. The first
20 participants who get the correct answer each day will receive a sweet treat as a prize! It’s a delightful way to enhance your visit and perhaps take home a little piece of this flavorful art.
Previous Exhibition Highlights
The exhibition will also feature several highlight pieces from past exhibitions, such as the enchanting 'Goldfish Scooping', stunning 'Sunflower', and the delightful 'Bicycle Uchiwa and Morning Glory', all showcasing the fine art of confectionery.
