Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2025: Igniting a Sustainable Future for All

Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2025 (ADSW)

Under the distinguished patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE, the much-anticipated Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) 2025 is set to take place from January 12 to 18 in Abu Dhabi. This prominent event will serve as a global platform aimed at accelerating sustainable development while promoting socioeconomic progress. This year’s theme, "The Nexus of Next. Supercharging Sustainable Progress," underlines the intersection of advanced technologies and human expertise in the quest for sustainability.

The ADSW marks its position as the first significant event in the global sustainability calendar, bringing together a diverse group of policymakers, business leaders, and representatives from civil society. Participants will engage in discussions on innovative pathways to expedite the transition towards sustainable economies and unlock opportunities estimated at a staggering US$10 trillion.

His Excellency Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and Chairman of Masdar, expressed that this year's ADSW would act as a nexus for global stakeholders and emphasized interconnected solutions to help build a more sustainable future for everyone. He further highlighted the three megatrends shaping our world today: the rise of the Global South, the transformation of energy systems, and the exponential growth of artificial intelligence (AI). According to Dr. Al Jaber, ADSW 2025 must not only set the policy framework but also catalyze actionable steps towards sustainable progress.

Confirmed partners for this edition include major players like the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), TotalEnergies, and HSBC, among others. Over its 15 years of existence, ADSW has successfully facilitated strategic partnerships and high-value agreements among governments, industry leaders, and clean energy pioneers, driving impactful alliances that advance global sustainability.

Recognizing the urgent need for large-scale systemic change, ADSW 2025 will combine energy, data, finance, trade, and natural ecosystems to drive exponential sustainable growth. The event's engaging program comprises high-profile sessions, forums, partner-led gatherings, and ample networking opportunities.

Key events lined up include the annual International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) Assembly on January 12 and 13, the Global Climate Finance Annual Meeting, and the ADSW Opening Ceremony taking place at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) on January 14. The ADSW Summit and the Green Hydrogen Summit will follow closely, featuring discussions that promote collaboration, investment, and innovative partnerships.

Importantly, ADSW will once again feature the World Future Energy Summit, an essential platform that drives knowledge sharing and business growth. Highlighting its significance, 450 companies showcased their innovations at the Summit in 2024. Moving into 2025, the event will incorporate an Innovation Hub for over 55 startups and entrepreneurs to present their groundbreaking technologies.

Moreover, the Women in Sustainability, Environment and Renewable Energy (WiSER) Forum will amplify the crucial voices of women in sustainability discussions while gathering 3,500 youth through its Youth 4 Sustainability (Y4S) Forum, designed to empower young climate leaders.

Another core component of ADSW 2025 is the Zayed Sustainability Prize, which acknowledges innovative solutions to global challenges. Events surrounding the Prize, including its Awards Ceremony set for January 14, will demonstrate how the award positively impacts lives worldwide through sustainable economic and social development initiatives.

With various significant dates lined up throughout the week—from the IRENA Assembly to the grand closing festival at Masdar City on January 17 and 18—ADSW 2025 promises to be a milestone in the sustainability agenda. By fostering multi-stakeholder collaboration and addressing pressing global issues, this impactful platform is committed to ensuring a sustainable world for generations to come.
