GreenTeaTokyo's Tea Room at WebX 2025 Delivers Unique Cultural Experience

A Unique Cultural Experience at WebX 2025

In August 2025, GreenTeaTokyo, led by Yuki Ishii, set up a traditional tea room called the "Ceremonial Tea Room" at the WebX 2025 conference held at the Prince Park Tower Tokyo. This event successfully combined elements of cryptocurrency, Web3, and AI with a touch of Japanese tradition. The presence of a genuine tatami-matted tea room in the midst of innovative technology offered attendees an unexpected and profound healing experience.

A Surprising Oasis in a Digital Space

WebX 2025 attracted approximately 7,000 attendees on the first day and another 3,000 on the second. Remarkably, 140 individuals enjoyed immersive tea experiences within the GreenTeaTokyo pop-up tea room, featuring a diverse array of participants, with almost half being international guests.

"It's incredible how people were genuinely surprised to step into a serene Japanese room from the bustling digital ambiance around them," Ishii reflected on the event.

During the tea experience, participants enjoyed a peaceful atmosphere, as doors were closed to muffle external noise. Attendee feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing, "I didn't expect this kind of place to exist," and "I felt so at ease here."

High-Quality Experiences Leading to Positive Feedback

One notable aspect was the high level of satisfaction among participants, leading many to revisit the tea room the following day or bring friends along. The data suggested that approximately 2% of WebX attendees experienced the tea ceremony, highlighting a significant interest in Japanese cultural experiences within the tech industry.

Inside this authentic setup, which featured tatami mats, crimson felt, traditional umbrellas, and hanging scrolls, GreenTeaTokyo provided a tea ceremony experience in English. Ishii pointed out, "It was amazing to see how many people sought a moment of tranquility amidst the frenetic pace of technology."

A New Proposition: Digital Detox through Tea Ceremony

This initiative also served as an exploration of the value of analog experiences in a world overwhelmed by digital fatigue, particularly in the tech industry. Surrounded by cutting-edge technology, the mindfulness inherent in each tea ceremony was accentuated, leaving a deep impression on attendees.

"I firmly believe that environments like WebX, which are future-oriented, greatly benefit from the quiet and focus that a tea ceremony offers," Ishii commented.

Future Developments

Following this success, GreenTeaTokyo plans to expand its tea room services to tech events and corporate exhibitions. The company aims to offer cultural experiences that align with international business events and contribute to corporate well-being initiatives in the future.
