Upcoming Playwriting Contest 2026

The Bird Theatre in Tottori Prefecture has confirmed its plans to host the "Everyone Writes Play Contest" for the 2026 fiscal year. This contest invites participants to create short plays centered around the lives, thoughts, and imaginations of individuals with disabilities. With the aim of accessibility, the initiative aims to include voices of disability in the arts community.

New Professional Division Introduced

This year, the contest features a new Professional Division alongside its regular category, showcasing an expanded two-division system. Following the success of the previous years, which saw 244 submissions in the first year, 192 in 2024, and 191 in 2025, the contest continues to foster an environment where both beginners and seasoned writers can craft meaningful plays.
