Marci Allison comes aboard as the Vice President of Marketing and Communications, alongside Brittany McKelvey, PhD, who assumes the role of Senior Director of Regulatory Policy. Their combined expertise is poised to strengthen the foundation's efforts in improving outcomes for individuals affected by lung cancer.

Marci Allison: A Marketing Maestro

Marci Allison joins LUNGevity with an impressive background in marketing, having spent nearly 15 years at the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). In her previous role as the Director of Program Marketing Strategy, she developed and implemented strategic marketing initiatives that significantly elevated ASCO's brand presence.

At LUNGevity, Marci will spearhead marketing and communications strategies, focusing on enhancing the organization’s visibility and reputation. Her experience will enable her to lead impactful marketing campaigns for major events, including the HOPE Summit and International Lung Cancer Survivorship Conference. Marci's dedication to elevating the organization's message will be crucial in raising awareness about LUNGevity's educational resources and support programs.

Brittany McKelvey: A Beacon in Regulatory Policy

Joining Marci is Brittany McKelvey, PhD, who steps into the position of Senior Director of Regulatory Policy. Brittany brings a wealth of experience from Friends of Cancer Research where she served as the Director of Regulatory Affairs. Given her experience tackling key regulatory issues in the cancer field, she’s well-equipped to provide valuable guidance in this area.

Her role will focus on advancing lung cancer policies, leading initiatives that reform clinical trials, and fostering connections with regulatory agencies like the FDA and EMA. With personal insights as a cancer survivor, Brittany's perspective and expertise in regulatory science are expected to significantly influence LUNGevity's ambition to drive essential policy changes.

Leadership Vision

Andrea Ferris, the President and CEO of LUNGevity Foundation, expressed her enthusiasm about the latest additions to the team. "We are thrilled to welcome Marci and Brittany as we continue to grow. Their experience in marketing, communications, and regulatory policy is instrumental in advancing our mission to improve outcomes for those battling lung cancer."

LUNGevity Foundation: A Commitment to Change

LUNGevity Foundation is recognized as the leading organization focusing on lung cancer in the United States. The foundation is dedicated to transforming the landscape of lung cancer diagnosis and treatment. Their vision aims to enhance the quality of life and survivorship for all impacted by the illness while addressing health disparities.

Through rigorous research and advocacy, LUNGevity employs a holistic approach to find lung cancer at earlier stages when treatment is most effective. Furthermore, the foundation prioritizes developing new treatment avenues to extend both lifespan and quality of life for lung cancer patients.

The Impact of Lung Cancer in the U.S.

Lung cancer remains a pressing issue, with approximately 1 in 18 Americans facing a diagnosis in their lifetime. This year, over 234,000 individuals are anticipated to receive a lung cancer diagnosis, marking a new case every 2.2 minutes. The stark reality is that more lives are lost to lung cancer than to colorectal and pancreatic cancers combined. However, advancements in detection and treatment are increasing survival rates.

LUNGevity Foundation aims for a world where no one dies of lung cancer. Their efforts encompass providing essential resources such as a patient-centered website, a dedicated HELPLine, and survivor conferences, all designed to facilitate access to information, support, and clinical trials.
