Lowe's and Spry Global Join Forces to Expand Homeless Services in DeKalb County

Tackling Homelessness in DeKalb County

In a significant move to address the homelessness crisis, Lowe's Home Improvement and Spry Global have pledged $750,000 to Frontline Response's expansion project at their DeKalb County facility. This initiative, which has a total budget of $1.2 million, aims to provide essential support and resources to unhoused individuals and families in the area.

The combined efforts of Lowe’s and Spry Global highlight a commitment to fostering community welfare. Their contribution will facilitate critical renovations at Frontline Response's facility located at 2585 Gresham Road. This facility serves as a vital resource center for those experiencing homelessness, offering a range of essential services and support.

The Planned Expansions

With the upcoming warming center season in Atlanta, the enhancements to Frontline Response's facilities are timely and necessary. The renovations will include:
  • - All-Gender Private Restrooms and Expanded Modern Showers: Designed for safety and privacy, these upgrades ensure all guests feel dignified and respected during their stay.
  • - On-Site Medical and Mental Health Exam Rooms: Addressing two major barriers to overcoming homelessness, these spaces will allow for the provision of critical health services, aiming to connect residents with the care they need.
  • - A Walk-Up Community Café: This new café will offer nourishing meals and refreshments to anyone in need throughout the day, fostering a sense of community and support.
  • - Expanded Sleeping Capacity: The new facility will nearly double its overnight accommodation capacity, from 260 to approximately 400 individuals and families, significantly increasing the number of people they can assist.
  • - Dedicated Space for Service Pets: Guests will have the ability to stay with their support animals, helping reduce separation anxiety and supporting emotional stability.

Voices of Support

The commendable contribution from Lowe's and Spry Global has been met with praise from Frontline Response’s leadership. Will Butler, Executive Director of Frontline Response Georgia, shared, "This donation doesn't just enhance our facility; it transforms the lives of those who rely on it for hope, healing, and a fresh start."

Adding to the sentiment, Terry Tucker, National President and CEO of Frontline Response, expressed his gratitude, stating, "This investment will have a lasting impact for years to come. Both Lowe's and Spry Global have shown an understanding of the urgency and humanity surrounding this crisis."

Terrance Rhymes, District Manager at Lowe's, emphasized their mission: "At Lowe's, our goal is to solve problems and fulfill dreams for the home, including for those who may not have one right now. We are proud to partner with Frontline Response and Spry Global in this crucial work."
