LIXIL Housing Research Institute's 2026 New Employees Ceremony Inspires Future Builders

LIXIL Housing Research Institute Kickstarts 2026 Journey

On April 1, 2026, LIXIL Housing Research Institute held its orientation ceremony for three newly joined employees in Shinagawa, Tokyo. President Nobuhiko Nakajima delivered an inspiring address emphasizing the essential experiences that shape a professional in today's rapidly changing landscape.

Words of Wisdom from President Nakajima

Nakamura set the tone for the event by referring to the current situation of the housing industry—a time characterized by transformation. He urged the new employees to embrace the real-world experiences they would gain on-site: "Your careers start at the frontline. In this age of AI and social media, where information can sometimes feel flat, it is vital to gain 'three-dimensional experiences' and an 'immediate sense' of real estate construction."

He recognized that the journey ahead can be daunting, with new challenges often feel insurmountable. However, he stressed that overcoming these obstacles is where the true essence of work lies. "View your time spent in the field as an investment in yourself. Don’t shy away from challenges; they are stepping stones toward responsibility, authority, and rewards. Furthermore, provide sincere feedback regarding the corporate challenges you observe from your field perspective. This awareness will fortify our organization."

Embracing Change and Diversification

Nakamura also touched on the transformational phase the housing market currently faces. With a noticeable decline in the new build market, the focus will now shift to enhancing existing housing performance to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.

In response to this shift, LIXIL has introduced DUUO, a detached renovation venture capital brand, established in January this year. Additionally, they are accelerating the venture capital brand YUIE, which focuses on newly built houses, along with ventures in non-residential wooden structures. This proactive approach aims for diversification and multilayered development within their business portfolio.

In light of these changes, the company increasingly anticipates its new employees to break free from traditional confines and rise as future leaders in the industry—leaders who will help shape the new standards of tomorrow.

Path Ahead for New Employees

After their orientation, the new recruits will undergo a comprehensive training period before being assigned to either franchise or direct stores, where they will accumulate two years of hands-on experience in the field.
