Overview of the Keio Tamagawa Development Project
Keio Corporation, headquartered in Tama City, Tokyo, has announced that construction of the rental housing and welfare buildings under the Keio Tamagawa Development Project will commence on May 1, 2025. This project, located in front of Keio Tamagawa Station along the Keio Sagamihara Line, is a collaboration with Revita Co., Ltd. and Smilez Co., Ltd., focusing on community engagement and sustainable urban development.

Vision for the Keio Tamagawa Area
The project's site covers approximately 2.8 hectares, including a former floral garden and other company-owned lands accessible just a minute’s walking distance from the station. Along with the housing, the development will feature commercial spaces, a day care center, and welfare facilities to enhance the appeal and functionality of the area.
Design and Layout
The design focuses on creating a seamless connection between various community spaces, including parks, squares, and new streets, ensuring that residents and visitors have ample opportunities for interaction.
Collaborating Partners in Community Building
Revita Co., known for its expertise in community development, will serve as the main planning partner for the project, working alongside Keio Corporation. Meanwhile, Smilez Co. will contribute their experience in retail and event management, ensuring a vibrant atmosphere throughout the development. The overall design will be supervised by Nakaken Architectural Design Studio, aiming for a welcoming environment.
Details of the Rental Housing and Welfare Building (Block B)
The rental housing building, titled Block B, will house 214 apartment units from the 3rd to the 10th floors. Plans for the ground floor include a supermarket and a licensed daycare center, along with various commercial tenants and coworking spaces. Additionally, medical and welfare facilities from around Chofu Station will be relocated to this new complex.
Ongoing and Upcoming Activities
To engage the community in the development process, workshops to discuss the future of Tamagawa are planned for 2024. Children from local elementary schools have also participated in brainstorming events focused on the use of underpass space.
Future Plans
From June 2025, the underpass of Keio Tamagawa Station will be used temporarily to create gathering spots for locals, including food truck setups and casual dining areas. Several community-focused events will be held to encourage participation and feedback.
