This summer, as millions anticipate vacationing and enjoying leisure time, the reality for many families is quite different. For a significant number, the challenge during these months revolves around food security. With school out, many children lose access to regular meals, creating a pressing need for resources to help families provide nutritious food.
Recognizing this urgent situation, the No Kid Hungry campaign has brought together a suite of well-known Latin figures from various fields to raise awareness and guide families toward available food resources. Among the notable names participating are Lorena García, chef and author; Dayanara Torres, actress and former Miss Universe; Alejandra Espinoza, actress and entrepreneur; Jacqueline Bracamontes, actress and presenter; and Ximena Duque, actress and content creator. Each personality emphasizes the importance of family nourishment and advocates for accessible food programs this summer.
The Challenge Families Face
According to a national survey conducted by No Kid Hungry, about one in three parents is anxious about maintaining food supplies through the summer months. Rising food prices, fuel costs, and other basic expenses exacerbate these concerns. Families of Latin origin, in particular, are statistically likely to face food insecurity more than their white counterparts. This stark reality underscores the necessity of connecting families with available assistance programs.
