Afcons Infrastructure Ltd recently announced that it has been awarded a substantial contract from Vadhvan Port Project Limited (VPPL), officially recognizing the company’s expertise in maritime infrastructure. The project involves the construction of a remarkable breakwater measuring 10.14 kilometers, expected to enhance the capabilities of the upcoming Vadhvan Port located in Maharashtra, India. The total value of the contract is approximately ₹53.01 billion, making it one of the significant maritime projects in the region.

Historically, Afcons has built a reputation through various prominent maritime projects both in India and internationally. Noteworthy achievements include the Sohar Port bulk terminal in Oman, one of the world's deepest ports, and the new international port in Owendo, Gabon, which was completed in a record time of 18 months, earning recognition for being the fastest port project completed in West Africa. Additionally, they delivered the EPC complete mooring terminal in Kuwait, which includes access bridges, equipment, and structural works.

Afcons Infrastructure Ltd has gained international acclaim and recognition by the Engineering News-Record (ENR) as the eighth largest contractor specializing in maritime and port facilities globally. The Vadhvan Port is envisioned to be the largest public port in India and among the largest container ports worldwide, with a handling capacity of 23.2 million TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units), significantly enhancing India’s position in the global trade arena.
