Celebrating 10 Years of Impact
Taco Bell Foundation is thrilled to mark the 10th anniversary of its Live Más Scholarship program, an initiative that has made a considerable impact in the lives of passionate students and Taco Bell team members alike. This year, the foundation is distributing a record-breaking total of
$14 million in scholarship funds. Of this contribution, a remarkable
$4.5 million is specifically designated for Taco Bell team members, showcasing the organization's ongoing commitment to supporting the individuals who proudly represent the brand every day.
Scholarships that Nurture Dreams
Scholarship amounts range from
$5,000 to $25,000 per recipient, with the possibility of renewal for up to four years. This financial support allows recipients to focus on their studies and pursue their passions without being burdened by financial constraints. In the past ten years, the Taco Bell Foundation has awarded over
$64 million to more than
3,000 students, including upwards of
1,000 Taco Bell employees.
Growing Numbers, Growing Aspirations
The Live Más Scholarship program has seen impressive growth since its inception. This year alone, applications surged from
6,000 to over
15,000. The introduction of the Round Up donation option at Taco Bell registers has provided additional funding for the scholarships, allowing anyone who dines at Taco Bell to contribute to the cause with just a few cents added to their order.
Stories of Passion and Determination
Among the awardees, two standout stories exemplify what it means to follow one’s passion.
- - Siena Laws, a driven individual with a passion for firefighting, was awarded a $25,000 scholarship. Since the age of twelve, she has been actively preparing for a career in firefighting despite facing gender barriers. She intends to study nursing at Texas A&M University, motivated by the desire to inspire other young women to pursue similar bold career paths.
- - Uriel Morales turned a family tragedy into a vocation. After experiencing a tornado that forever changed his life, he decided to study biomedical engineering. His ambition is to innovate more accessible prosthetic solutions for those in need, particularly in low-income communities. He received his scholarship while working as a Taco Bell team member, realizing a full-circle moment.
Beyond Financial Support
The Live Más Scholarship is not merely about funding; it is about fostering a community of creative thinkers, cultural changemakers, and ambitious individuals. Applicants are invited to showcase their stories in a two-minute video, illustrating their visions for the future. Those selected gain access to a wealth of opportunities, including mentorship, career workshops, internships, and networking, further empowering them to affect change not just for themselves but also for their communities.
A Lasting Movement
Ricarda Urso, an alumna from the inaugural class of Live Más Scholars, shared her experience of the scholarship program as life-changing, stating, "The scholarship wasn't just a one-time opportunity—it became a part of my life's mission." This sentiment radiates throughout the scholarship community, which encourages each member to pay it forward, continuing the cycle of support and inspiration.
