The China-SCO Digital Economy Platform Celebrates Its First Anniversary with Remarkable Achievements
On September 15, the China-SCO Digital Economy Cooperation Platform, a strategic initiative aimed at enhancing economic ties among member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), celebrated its first anniversary. With around 100 delegates in attendance, including government officials from SCO member countries and business representatives from both China and abroad, the event highlighted significant progress in areas such as digital infrastructure, cross-border collaboration, and the establishment of standards and talent cultivation.
Since its launch, the platform has successfully implemented 29 cross-border cooperation projects and facilitated the creation of 70 digital economy initiatives in its pilot zone located in Tianjin's Binhai New Area. These projects encompass a wide range of sectors including computational infrastructure, digital commerce, and the aerospace industry. Remarkably, the pilot zone has established an extensive digital connection, building a diversified pool of computational resources with over 150,000 accelerator cards and collaborating with more than 700 partners within its ecosystem.
In addition to technical advancements, the platform has introduced new initiatives regarding data classification, cross-border data flow management, and the development of digital talent. Trade between the pilot zone and SCO member countries has witnessed an impressive growth rate of 14% on a yearly basis in 2025. This increasing collaboration spans real-world applications as well, exemplified by the establishment of an industrial alliance focusing on commercial satellite data services. This alliance provides vital solutions for agricultural monitoring, disaster warning, and environmental protection.
Tianjin University and Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine have also played pivotal roles by launching the Qihuang Medical Hall, which utilizes AI and digital technologies to promote traditional Chinese medicine on a global platform. Furthermore, the China-SCO Digital Economy Analytical Center Alliance, consisting of 28 institutions, supports the platform's initiatives and collaborative agreements on six new projects, which include advancements in artificial intelligence infrastructure, smart logistics, geospatial intelligence, and digital healthcare services.
At the event, Tianjin showcased "Hehe," an AI-driven dialogue agent capable of supporting over 100 languages, inviting SCO partners to deepen their collaboration in the domain of digital economy. This initiative reflects the platform's commitment to fostering innovation and enhancing partnerships across borders, showcasing both the technical capabilities and cultural exchange that drive its mission forward.
