Empowering Future Generations Through Minecraft Workshops at Kaetsu University



Kaetsu University, located in Koganei City, Tokyo, is set to host an exciting event on August 24th, 2026, aiming to inspire elementary school children and engage their parents. This free event, titled "Not Just 'Playing' Minecraft! Nurturing the Learning Power of the Digital World," will include hands-on workshops and informative lectures focused on leveraging the educational version of the popular game, Minecraft.

Event Overview


The workshop will take place from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the university's Hanakoganei campus, with registration starting at 12:30 PM. Aimed at elementary school students and their parents, the event will have limited spots available, drawing in 30 families through a lottery selection process. Participants can apply through the university's website, with applications closing on August 17th at 5:00 PM.

Focusing on the theme of "Minecraft x Community Development," this unique initiative encourages children to utilize the educational Minecraft tool to tackle local challenges. Through innovative ideation and creative expression, children will develop essential 21st-century skills such as creativity, problem-solving abilities, and ICT literacy. Furthermore, this event aims to raise awareness about community issues among the younger generation, providing a practical learning environment.

In parallel to the workshops, there will be a lecture for parents, conducted by Associate Professor Takashi Doi from the Faculty of Business Economics at Kaetsu University. His talk, themed "Not Just 'Playing' Minecraft! Nurturing the Learning Power of the Digital World," will delve into the educational significance of the game and discuss how it can foster creativity among children.

Speaker Profile


Professor Takashi Doi is a notable figure in the field of digital education. After graduating from Keio University with a degree in Environmental Information, he worked at Rakuten, where he handled e-commerce consulting. Following his experiences at Luxa Corporation, he founded Coreus in 2012, focusing on community revitalization through ICT. Since 2019, he has served as the director of the Minecraft Cup, promoting digital creation education for children across Japan.
