Douglas Elliman Announces Major International Expansion into France and Monaco

Douglas Elliman Realty, one of the foremost residential real estate firms in the United States, has just announced its ambitious plans to expand into the French and Monaco markets. This move is aimed at meeting the growing appetite among American buyers for luxury properties in these storied regions. The announcement occurred during the annual sales conference, ENDEAVOR, held in Las Vegas, where Douglas Elliman brought together agents and industry leaders to unveil this strategic initiative.

At the heart of this expansion is a partnership with notable European real estate experts – Philippe Curutchet, Fredrik Lilloe, and Edward de Mallet Morgan. Together, they will oversee Douglas Elliman’s operations across southern France while providing American clients with seamless access to prestigious properties in key locations like Bordeaux, the French Riviera, and Monaco, with plans to further expand into Paris and the French Alps.

In recent years, American tourism in France has surged, surpassing visitors from the UK and Germany, which has increased demand for high-end properties. According to statistics from 2024, real estate transactions exceeding $5.85 million comprised over 30% of all deals along the French Riviera, contributing to a robust market with over $10.5 billion in sales. This growing trend aligns perfectly with Douglas Elliman’s ethos of offering unparalleled service and exclusive access to luxury real estate.

Michael S. Liebowitz, President and CEO of Douglas Elliman Inc., expressed his excitement about this expansion, emphasizing that it reflects the company’s vision of creating a genuinely global network. Liebowitz stated, “Philippe, Fredrik, and Edward have established great reputations in the French luxury real estate market, and their track records speak volumes. We are thrilled to welcome them to our team.”

Philippe Curutchet, a key figure in this venture, founded the holding company Globality in 2009, focusing on luxury real estate across France. Under his leadership, Globality has carved out a strong presence in prestigious markets, including Bordeaux, Paris, and the French Riviera. Curutchet aims to elevate the luxury property landscape while prioritizing exceptional customer service.

Fredrik Lilloe, another veteran brought on board, has built a reputation as a leading figure in French Riviera real estate, closing transactions totaling over $2 billion and setting the French record for the highest price per square meter. His breadth of experience and market insight have made him a sought-after expert, frequently featured in premier publications such as The Financial Times and The New York Times.

Edward de Mallet Morgan adds another layer of depth to the team with more than 20 years in high-end real estate, specializing in ultra-wealthy clients across continents. As Group Head of The Private Office, he brings insights into the super-prime and ultra-prime property markets, marking Douglas Elliman’s foray into a highly exclusive segment.

In recent notable transactions, the team successfully sold the Manoir de Pigranel in Mougins for an impressive $45 million and the Villa Aquila in Cannes for $42 million. Among their current listings are prime properties like the Château Louis XIII in Cannes, priced at $33.54 million, and an exclusive waterfront estate in Èze-sur-Mer at $32.5 million.

The new collaboration not only provides Douglas Elliman’s existing clients with easier access to premier real estate in France and Monaco but also opens direct routes for European clients interested in U.S. luxury properties via Elliman’s extensive network across key American markets.

This strategic expansion represents the initial step in a broader plan for Douglas Elliman, with additional markets like the French Alps and Paris anticipated to be announced soon. Unlike traditional franchise models, Douglas Elliman emphasizes substance over size by carefully selecting real estate professionals who align with its high standards for work ethic and client service.

As Douglas Elliman seeks to address the increasing international real estate demands of its clients, it remains committed to providing exceptional service without intermediaries, ensuring a seamless experience for buyers and sellers alike in the ever-evolving luxury property landscape.
