Briarcliffe Credit Partners Expands Global Reach with Branch Advisory Acquisition

Briarcliffe Credit Partners Expands Global Operations with Acquisition of Branch Advisory

On July 7, 2025, Briarcliffe Credit Partners, a prominent agency specializing exclusively in private credit placement, announced a strategic move that promises to reshape the private credit landscape. By acquiring Branch Advisory, a well-respected European placement agency led by renowned industry expert Rollo R. Wigan, Briarcliffe aims to expand its reach into Europe, the Middle East, and Australasia. This acquisition marks a significant milestone for Briarcliffe as it asserts its position within the rapidly growing private credit market.

A New Era for Private Credit

Jess Larsen, the Founder and CEO of Briarcliffe, expressed that the acquisition is a response to the increasing demand from institutional investors for private credit strategies worldwide. In a statement he remarked, "This strategic expansion is in service to the sustained and growing institutional investor demand for private credit strategies globally."

With the projection indicating that private credit may evolve into the largest asset class in private markets, Briarcliffe finds itself on the brink of what could be termed a 'golden age' in private credit. The aim is not merely to grow but to bring differentiated and uncorrelated investment strategies to the EMEA region, enabling local investors to access opportunities previously beyond their reach.

Meeting Investor Demand

Briarcliffe's acquisition of Branch Advisory is particularly designed to tackle the challenges that Limited Partners (LPs) face in understanding the market landscape, conducting thorough due diligence, and navigating the vast pool of over 1,000 General Partners (GPs) seeking capital. The firm prides itself on its selective approach; out of the numerous GPs they meet annually, only 2% make it through their rigorous process to get market exposure.

In the future, the addition of the European office is expected to provide immense value to European LPs, as they will be introduced to previously unknown U.S.-based managers who are equipped with credible investment strategies Uncovering these exclusive opportunities is what Briarcliffe is leveraging into this new era of operations.

The New Leadership Role

Leading the European headquarters will be Rollo R. Wigan, a veteran with over 23 years of experience in private credit fundraising across both the US and Europe. Under his leadership at Branch Advisory, he successfully assisted clients from various sectors of private credit in obtaining commitments from an extensive range of institutional investors. Prior to founding Branch Advisory, he served as Co-Head of Client Advisory at BlueMountain Capital and held senior roles in firms like Halcyon Asset Management and MKP Capital.

Wigan shared his enthusiasm for joining Briarcliffe, emphasizing the synergy between extensive industry experience and a shared vision for growth. He expressed excitement at the prospect of connecting world-class credit managers to LPs across Europe, stating, “I have seen a dramatic increase in appetite for private credit from my LPs. Branch Advisory's incorporation into Briarcliffe will allow us to bring world-class managers to those LPs."

A Strong Foundation

This acquisition unfolds following substantial fundraising successes for Briarcliffe earlier this year, where it acted as the exclusive North American placement agent for BC Partners Credit and Freeport Financial, promoting their funds, Special Opportunities Fund III and Freeport First Lien Loan Fund VI, respectively. Briarcliffe raised an impressive over $3.4 billion in investable capital for these two robust funds.
