Accelerating Sustainability: Highlights from the SMI CEO Summit

The Sustainable Markets Initiative (SMI) held its annual CEO summit at Hampton Court Palace, bringing together over 300 CEOs, international delegations, and innovators. This pivotal event aimed to foster major partnerships and collaborations focused on accelerating the transition toward sustainable development.

Uniting Leaders for a Common Goal

Attendees included prominent leaders from diverse sectors, all committed to sharing insights, fostering collaborations, and securing investments in areas such as clean energy, artificial intelligence, sustainable materials, and advanced manufacturing methods. The participation of more than 50 CEOs from Chinese companies underscored China's growing influence within the SMI's framework, which has been active since its inception in 2021. The Council of China has established a robust and pragmatic sustainable development agenda in alignment with the country's priorities

Notably, the event was graced by the presence of His Majesty King Charles III, who founded the SMI in 2020 as a unique platform for “private sector diplomacy.” This initiative mobilizes business leaders globally to place sustainability at the forefront of value creation and long-term economic growth.

Furthermore, Secretary John Kerry has been appointed as the ocean advocate for the SMI’s Ocean Stewardship Initiative, highlighting the importance of coordinated action between civil societies, governments, and the private sector.
