Calpine Corporation proudly announced its 65th anniversary of The Geysers, a landmark geothermal energy facility located in Northern California. On October 13, 2025, the company reflected on its journey since The Geysers began commercial operations in 1960, transforming the landscape of California's energy sector. Today, it operates 13 geothermal power plants spread across a 45-square-mile area, generating enough renewable energy to power approximately 725,000 homes every year. Calpine employs nearly 300 professionals alongside 150 contractors, all stationed in Lake and Sonoma Counties.
