SPINX Program Expands with New Initiatives

The innovative SPINX program has launched its sixth iteration, known as "SPINX KYOTO," with the onboarding of 11 new participants as of April 2025. This independent venture capital initiative is spearheaded by 01Booster Capital, which is headquartered in Chiyoda, Tokyo. It aims to support talented professionals from various sectors in their entrepreneurial journeys through spin-offs and spin-outs.

SPINX has previously conducted its phases I-IV in Tokyo, recognized as part of the official Tokyo Metropolitan Government project, SPIN X10. The heightening demand for entrepreneurial support in the Kansai region led to the introduction of SPINX KYOTO for its fifth and sixth phases, marking a significant expansion.

New Participants and Program Structure

The current cohort comprises individuals from a wide array of backgrounds, enabling a rich blend of expertise and perspectives. Throughout the program, participants engage in specialized sessions with local mentors and experts, in addition to networking opportunities designed to foster business growth.

As of now, the SPINX program has seen a total of 113 participants across its phases, showcasing its commitment to nurturing entrepreneurial talent. A key feature of the program is the planned matching event scheduled for the mid-2025, where participants will have the chance to present their accomplishments to potential investors, including both venture capitalists and corporate venture capitalists, enhancing their business growth opportunities.

Understanding Spin-offs and Spin-outs

Within the framework of the SPINX program, a spin-off refers to a situation where an internal employee starts a business with less than 50% funding from their company, while a spin-out occurs when the employee ventures out to establish their business independently without any financial backing from their employer.
