Canyon Partners Real Estate Boosts Credit Platform with New Hire Chad Goodman

Canyon Partners Real Estate Enhances Credit Services

Canyon Partners Real Estate LLC, a significant player in the real estate investment sector, has announced a strategic move to bolster its credit origination capabilities by hiring Chad Goodman as the Head of Eastern & Central Region Credit. This new position is based in New York and focuses on providing opportunistic credit solutions across various markets in the Eastern and Central United States.

Chad Goodman arrives with an impressive background, boasting over 20 years of experience in real estate credit and investments. Before his appointment at Canyon, Goodman held the position of Managing Director at Related Fund Management. In this role, he successfully managed the origination of whole loans, b-notes, mezzanine loans, and preferred equity, serving a variety of borrowers focusing on transitional and opportunistic real estate business plans across the U.S.

Prior to his time at Related Fund Management, Goodman dedicated nearly 12 years to Westport Capital Partners, where he oversaw investment and asset management across various real estate classes and geographical locations. His career began at Bear Stearns, where he specialized in mortgage-backed securities and structured products, which has greatly contributed to his well-rounded expertise in the industry.

Jacob Feingold, Partner and Head of Originations for Canyon Partners Real Estate, spoke highly of Goodman’s arrival. He noted that Goodman’s extensive experience in structuring and sourcing complex real estate investments throughout different market cycles makes him a valuable addition to their expanding credit platform. Feingold emphasized, “Expanding our origination capabilities in the Central and Eastern U.S. will allow us to deepen our relationships with borrowers and sponsors and identify compelling opportunities across a broad range of markets, structures, and property types.”

Mr. Goodman’s hire is part of a series of significant investments Canyon Partners has made in its real estate platform over the past two years. This includes the recent onboarding of Scott Swisher as Managing Director and Head of Western Region Credit Originations, Adam Ostrowsky as Managing Director of Capital Markets, and Scott San Filippo as Senior Director of Bridge Debt. These appointments reflect Canyon's intention to enhance its senior investment team, thereby solidifying its capabilities across credit and equity strategies throughout the nation.

Founded in 1991, Canyon Partners Real Estate LLC serves as the direct investing branch of Canyon Partners, LLC, a global alternative asset manager overseeing approximately $30 billion in assets. Over the last fifteen years, Canyon has invested over $7.7 billion in debt and equity capital through 268 transactions, which represented roughly $24.7 billion in real estate assets. Their investment focus includes debt, value-add initiatives, and opportunistic strategies across various property types, regions in the U.S., and project stages, including development, transitional, and distressed situations.

The strategic hiring of Chad Goodman indicates Canyon Partners' commitment to grow its real estate investment platform and expand its influence in key market areas. As the firm continues to build its team, it is well-positioned to capitalize on emerging opportunities within the real estate sector, bolstered by a strong leadership structure capable of navigating complex investment landscapes.
