Fireaway Inc. Achieves Certification for Stat-X® Fire Extinguishing Systems

Fireaway Inc., based in Minnetonka, Minnesota, has made significant strides in enhancing maritime safety by receiving type approval and certifications for its innovative Stat-X® Aerosol fire extinguishing systems. These advancements come after thorough assessments adhering to MSC.1/Circ.1270 standards, confirming the systems' adherence to strict maritime regulations.

The certification process, conducted by Bureau Veritas, culminated in three distinct certifications allowing the deployment of Stat-X systems across SOLAS-regulated marine environments on ships globally, as well as vessels flying EU and UK flags. Bureau Veritas issued the type approval certificate (23277/D1 BV), which verifies that the Stat-X systems meet essential requirements outlined in SOLAS 74 (as amended), the FSS Code, and the HSC Codes from 1994 and 2000, remaining valid until October 22, 2030.

An EC type examination certificate (81823/A0 MED) was also granted under the EU Directive 2014/90/EU for marine equipment, facilitating compliance for ships under EU flags until April 8, 2031. Similarly, a UK type examination certificate (81824/A0 UK) was issued by Bureau Veritas, having received approval from the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, also valid until April 8, 2031.

Lance Harry, President and CEO of Fireaway Inc., expressed his satisfaction with this accomplishment, stating, "This approval verifies that Stat-X systems meet established evaluation criteria for use in ship applications governed by SOLAS requirements. It reflects how performance validation, technical assessments, and certification come together in practice."

The certification encompasses 15 different generator models from the E-Series (electrically activated) and T-Series (thermally activated), which have been evaluated specifically for closed machinery spaces on vessels. While the type approval confirms compliance with applicable evaluation requirements, specific ship installations still require examination and approval from classification societies and flag administrations based on project-specific conditions.

Stat-X aerosol fire extinguishing systems are optimally designed for use in confined and potentially hazardous environments where compact, non-conductive extinguishing solutions are necessary. These systems can be employed in various ship compartments including engine rooms, electrical cabinets, and enclosures for auxiliary equipment.

With the recent EU and UK market certifications along with the global Bureau Veritas type approval, the Stat-X system is now better positioned for widespread deployment in SOLAS-regulated projects around the world.

Fireaway Inc. is recognized globally for its environmentally friendly and highly effective aerosol fire suppression technology through its line of Stat-X aerosol fire suppression systems. The company's UltraSense detection solutions advance system intelligence, enabling earlier hazard detection, quicker response times, and proactive protection in high-risk environments.
