This new multi-year collaboration positions Hydro Flask as the Team Ocean Platinum Champion in the Protect Where We Play initiative, aimed at combating the escalating issue of single-use plastic pollution in marine environments.
Addressing Ocean Pollution
Recent statistics from Ocean Conservancy highlight a grave threat to our oceans: nearly 200 million metric tons of plastic are currently circulating in these waters, with an alarming additional 11 million metric tons entering every year. This volume is equivalent to a garbage truck-full of plastic being dumped into the ocean every minute. The Protect Where We Play initiative emphasizes the critical role of the ocean as our planet's life-support system. Athletes, artists, and fans are called upon to recognize and protect this vital resource. In the first year alone, Hydro Flask plans to engage fans at two leading sports events, promoting awareness about plastic pollution in conjunction with the EcoAthletes Collegiate Cup. Come June and July, during the FIFA World Cup, activations will be hosted in Miami, connecting global sports to ocean health.
