Celebrating Excellence in Library Marketing and Communications: The 2026 John Cotton Dana Awards

In 2026, the John Cotton Dana (JCD) Awards celebrate 80 years of recognizing outstanding achievements in library marketing and communications. These prestigious awards, administered by the American Library Association's (ALA) Core Division in collaboration with EBSCO Information Services, honor innovative strategies and creative initiatives that enhance the visibility and impact of libraries across the nation. Up to eight recipients are granted $10,000 each, funded by the H.W. Wilson Foundation, to support their exceptional public relations endeavors.

This year's selected award winners exemplify a diverse array of compelling campaigns that have significantly advanced library services. Here are the remarkable recipients of the 2026 JCD Award:

1. Door County Bookmobile, Egg Harbor, WI – Here Comes the Bookmobile! Again!

In a heartwarming revival of a 1950s bookmobile, Door County embarked on a literacy and outreach initiative reaching rural communities throughout Wisconsin. With the collective effort of volunteers and local partnerships, the program successfully distributed over 6,500 free books, expanding access to library services and fostering a love of reading across the region.

2. Geneva Public Library, Geneva, IL – Fund the Library, Library Access for All
