PT Pertamina International Shipping Unveils Global Growth Strategy at Posidonia 2026
On June 5, 2026, PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS), the Integrated Marine Logistics Subholding of PT Pertamina (Persero), showcased Indonesia's expanding maritime capabilities and future ambitions during Posidonia 2026, one of the world's foremost maritime exhibitions held in Athens, Greece.
Aiming High in the Maritime Sector
President Director of PIS, Surya Tri Harto, took the stand at Posidonia 2026, elaborating on the company’s vision of becoming a leading player in integrated maritime and logistics services. The event was marked by the hosting of a special forum entitled "Global Outreach: Navigating Indonesia's Shipping and Maritime Industry," which gathered significant participants from around the globe, including shipowners, investors, logistics professionals, and industry leaders.
In this forum, Dr. Bebeb A.K. Nugraha Djundjunan, Ambassador of Indonesia to Greece, underscored the strategic advantage of Indonesia as the world's largest archipelagic nation and an essential maritime gateway in Asia. He highlighted several investment opportunities across various sectors like shipping, ports, logistics, shipbuilding, fisheries, offshore energy, and blue economy initiatives. He especially pointed out how Indonesia's major ports could strengthen regional and global trade.
A significant focus of the discussions was on enhancing connectivity between Indonesia, ASEAN, Greece, and Europe. This connectivity would be facilitated through an integrated logistics framework combining sea, land, and rail transportation, which is pivotal for sustaining resilient global trade routes.
The “S4GO” Framework
During his presentation, Surya Tri Harto introduced PIS's long-term plans encapsulated in the “S4GO” framework. This initiative aims to solidify PIS's role as a leader in the shipping and logistics sector. The strategy emphasizes enhancing the company's core shipping operations by increasing third-party cargo handling and modernizing the fleet with eco-friendly vessels.
In addition, PIS is looking to expand globally through strategic partnerships and establish a commercial footprint in pivotal international markets. The “S4GO” plan also entails growing PIS’s offshore portfolio by incorporating floating energy infrastructure such as Floating Storage Operations (FSO), Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO), and Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) platforms. This strategy is aligned with a strong sustainability agenda, focusing on dual-fuel solutions, non-fossil fuel bunkering, and terminal modernization.
Currently, PIS operates 63 vessels across 65 international routes, effectively leveraging Indonesia’s geographic positioning to enhance its maritime service offerings. The company’s operations span five key sectors: shipping, marine services, port operations, asset ownership, and logistics.
Commitment to Global Trade
"As part of its long-term vision, PIS is dedicated to fortifying its role as a regional champion in maritime logistics, thus connecting Indonesia with major international markets," said Surya Tri Harto. This commitment reinforces Indonesia’s positioning in the global maritime ecosystem.
On the sidelines of the exhibition, PIS engaged in strategic dialogues with leading international maritime firms to explore future collaboration avenues, aiming to elevate operational excellence and development in maritime services. The anticipation surrounding this growth strategy and the potential partnerships highlight PIS's determination to navigate the complexities of the global shipping landscape while aligning with sustainability goals.
In conclusion, PT Pertamina International Shipping's presentation at Posidonia 2026 not only showcases Indonesia's robust maritime advancement but also sets the stage for growth and collaboration within the international shipping community.
