Exciting Talk Event to Discuss the Concept of Emptiness in Art at YUGEN Gallery

Upcoming Talk Event at YUGEN Gallery

YUGEN Gallery, located in Omotesando, Tokyo, is thrilled to announce its upcoming talk event titled 'The Manifestation of Emptiness', scheduled for July 18, 2026. This event is linked to the ongoing exhibition 'Keisuke Matsuda Works 2009-2026: The World from Emptiness', which reflects on nearly two decades of artistic practice by Matsuda through a three-chapter retrospective.

The term 'emptiness', as highlighted in the exhibition title, serves as a critical theme underlying Matsuda's recent works. The talk will feature guest speaker Akira Takaishi, an accomplished artist, who will delve into the background of the concept of 'emptiness', referencing the exhibition's thematic structure. Takaishi, who has engaged in dialogue with Matsuda for many years, is expected to provide insights that enrich understanding beyond the surface of the artworks.

Additionally, the exhibition catalog, set to be published in early July, will include an essay by Yoshinori Tsuchida, the exhibition curator from Waseda University, offering an interpretation of 'emptiness' from an art historical perspective. Together, the viewpoints of Takaishi and Tsuchida, complemented by Matsuda's own words, will create a valuable opportunity to discover new dimensions of Matsuda's artistic narrative.

Participation in this event is free of charge, although pre-registration is required. Interested individuals are encouraged to register via the following link: Registration Form. We warmly welcome everyone to explore the depths of this fascinating concept in art.
