Enhancing Educational Value Through Research Tours at Weed Contests
The annual weed contests conducted by the North Central and Western affiliates of the Weed Science Society of America (WSSA) have recently taken an innovative turn. On July 30, 2026, a group of approximately 180 participants, including students and volunteers, gathered in Gothenburg, Nebraska, to compete in various weed science competitions. Highlighting the importance of practical education, these contests challenged students on essential skills like weed identification, sprayer calibration, and herbicide injury diagnosis.
