Hengrui Pharma Showcases Over 90 Studies in Oncology at ASCO 2026

Hengrui Pharma made a significant impact at the 2026 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Annual Meeting, held in Chicago from May 29 to June 2. This prestigious gathering is recognized as one of the foremost platforms for unveiling advancements in cancer research and clinical practices. This year, Hengrui presented more than 90 oncology studies covering a wide spectrum of tumor types and treatment strategies, solidifying its status as a leader in innovative pharmaceutical research.

A record 94 research projects from China were selected for oral presentations at the ASCO meeting this year, including 12 late-breaking abstracts. Hengrui itself had 91 studies accepted for presentation along with 11 oral presentations, highlighting the depth and innovation of its oncology pipeline. This consistent presence at ASCO for over 16 years underscores Hengrui's commitment to cancer research and drug development.

Highlights of Research Findings

Breast Cancer Breakthroughs
Hengrui's most pivotal data pertained to triple-negative breast cancer. The HELEN-Trio 011 study, spearheaded by Professor Zhenzhen Liu, revealed that patients receiving neoadjuvant therapy combining camrelizumab and chemotherapy achieved a pathological complete response (pCR) rate of 57.5%, outpacing the 45.4% rate observed in those treated with chemotherapy alone. Furthermore, the HELEN HER-013 study introduced a new treatment regimen for patients with HER2-positive early breast cancer, demonstrating its ability to reduce hematologic toxicity while maintaining efficacy.

Gastrointestinal Cancer Advances
Hengrui showcased promising findings in colorectal cancer as well. The HORIZON-CRC01 study, led by top researchers, demonstrated that the novel anti-HER2 ADC, trastuzumab rezetecan, offered enhanced progression-free survival (PFS) for patients previously progressing on standard treatments — a notable median PFS of 5.5 months, compared to only 2.8 months with traditional therapies. In the realm of hepatocellular carcinoma, the CARES-336 trial confirmed that combining camrelizumab and rivoceranib with transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) led to significant improvements in PFS, establishing new benchmarks in treatment.

Urological Cancer Innovations
Recent studies in prostate cancer and bladder cancer yielded breakthroughs too. The FUZUPRO study indicated that the first-line combination of fluzoparib with abiraterone for metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer extended median radiographic PFS to 24.8 months—a notable increase from 19.9 months seen in standard care. Additionally, the use of the anti-Nectin-4 ADC, SHR-A2102, combined with adebrelimab, yielded promising results in treating muscle-invasive bladder cancer, with impressive rates of pCR and pathological downstaging.

Supportive Cancer Care Enhancements
Hengrui also introduced its novel antiemetic, a combination of Fosrolapitant and Palonosetron Hydrochloride, which significantly improved nausea and vomiting management during chemotherapy. The findings from the Phase III PROTECT study present a potential new standard for supportive cancer care, enhancing overall patient quality of life during treatment.

A Commitment to Innovation

With 16 approved oncology medications in China and nearly 60 candidates actively pursued, Hengrui continues to lead the charge in oncology innovation. The company is currently engaged in over 150 clinical trials globally, reflecting its unwavering resolve to translate research advancements into practical treatment solutions for cancer patients.

Hengrui’s robust presentations at the ASCO Annual Meeting not only amplify its ongoing research efforts but also illustrate its goal to push the boundaries of cancer treatment and care, fostering hope for better outcomes in oncology.

Through continued investment in research and development, Hengrui Pharma is dedicated to improving and prolonging the lives of cancer patients worldwide.
