Kuaishou Champions Digital Inclusion at the China-Germany Forum
Kuaishou Technology, a leader in social platforms and content communities, showcased its commitment to digital inclusion and women's empowerment at the 2025 China-Germany Sustainable Development Forum held in Beijing. During the roundtable discussion entitled "Opportunities and Challenges for Women in Economic Transition," Kuaishou's Vice President, Song Tingting, illuminated how the company leverages digital tools to enhance women's visibility, unlock new economic prospects, and enable them to take on more significant roles in the digital economy.
Song emphasized the transformative power of digital technology in the current economic landscape, asserting it as one of the most potent forces enabling women's participation in growth opportunities. "In the past, much of women's value remained unseen, especially for those in remote areas," she noted. "Kuaishou's mission is to dismantle these invisible barriers, allowing women to be seen, recognized, and empowered to unlock their full potential on our platform. This truly embodies the essence of inclusive technology."
Since 2018, Kuaishou has launched several public welfare programs, including "Happy Rural Leaders," "Power Academy for Her," and "Empowering for Happiness." These initiatives provide free digital skills training and essential resources to women from marginalized and rural communities. To date, over 10,000 female leaders have been trained, equipping millions of women to improve their income, gain economic independence, and enhance their overall livelihoods.
Song remarked, "The challenges women face in today's economic transition are tangible. However, digital technology is gradually becoming a powerful tool to overcome these obstacles." With the right training and access to tools, women are evolving from marginal participants to vital contributors to rural revitalization and economic growth. As an illustration, she shared the story of Zhang Xiaosi from Shandong Province, who returned home to care for her ill father. Thanks to Kuaishou’s free training and live-streaming support, she started selling local cherries online and saw a staggering increase in her sales, earning over 80,000 yuan. Her success also uplifted the incomes of elderly villagers and earned her a seat in the local People’s Congress.
"Technology is a tool, but kindness is a choice," Song remarked. "Empowering a woman means empowering a family, and ultimately, an entire village. That’s the true significance of technology for good.” Despite the progress made, Song pointed out that women still contend with two significant challenges: balancing family responsibilities with professional development and overcoming the digital divide, especially in remote areas with limited access to resources and information. She called for increased support at the international, national, corporate, and individual levels.
Looking to the future, Song proposed closer collaboration between China and Germany to bolster women's roles in the digital economy. She suggested the development of a bilateral training framework to cultivate female leaders in digital commerce, sustainability, and entrepreneurship—combining China's strength in digital platform operation with Germany's expertise in vocational training and sustainable development. Additionally, she advocated for a networking platform connecting entrepreneurs from both nations to foster mutual learning and collaboration.
Kuaishou remains steadfast in its global commitment to promoting inclusive digital transformation, reducing inequality, and supporting the long-term development of women through accessible technology.
