Addicus Unveils Battery II in Birmingham

At the core of Battery II are two standout locations: The Painted Lady, an exquisite 22-room boutique hotel operated by Lark Hotels, and Bygones Bar, a sophisticated gathering place serving curated cocktails. According to Drew Adams, Partner and Chief Enterprise Architect at Addicus, “This project was about doing the hard things when it mattered most. We honored our commitments, and ultimately delivered something Birmingham can be proud of.” This statement emphasizes the dedication that Addicus has shown in reviving not only a project but the heritage of Birmingham itself.

Battery II encapsulates a significant urban rejuvenation effort, featuring more than 18,000 square feet dedicated to retail and dining, alongside the Addicus Birmingham office. The Painted Lady is a tribute to Birmingham’s architectural legacy, boasting interiors that have been meticulously restored and designed with bespoke elements that reflect the city's rich history. Meanwhile, Bygones offers a premium bar experience where guests can enjoy cocktails crafted by skilled mixologists.

The road to realizing Battery II was not without its challenges. When initial development efforts stalled, Addicus brought forth a clear vision reinforced by strong community ties and strategic planning. The firm expertly navigated complex regulatory and financial hurdles to finally bring the project to fruition. Adams extends gratitude to various stakeholders including Will Smith from Maynard Nexsen, the Alabama Historical Commission, the Attorney General's Office, the City of Birmingham, and several others who played pivotal roles in overcoming obstacles to complete this venture. “This was a collective effort, and we’re proud of what we accomplished together for the city,” he noted.
