Rehlko Enhances Changzhou Manufacturing Site by Doubling Backup Power Capacity

In a significant move to bolster its global manufacturing capabilities, Rehlko has announced the doubling of its annual backup power capacity at its facility in Changzhou, China. This major investment will increase the capacity from 5.5 gigawatts (GW) to an impressive 11 GW. The demand for reliable power solutions is rapidly increasing due to various factors, including the rise of AI infrastructure, digitalization, and the needs of data centers and semiconductor industries. Rehlko, recognized as a global leader in providing integrated power solutions, is responding proactively to these challenges.

The Changzhou manufacturing site serves as a critical hub in Rehlko's expansive global network, producing a range of generator systems from 6 kW up to 4,000 kW. In addition to manufacturing the generators themselves, the site also plays a vital role in producing essential components that support the broader manufacturing framework across Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Latin America. As Brian Melka, President and CEO of Rehlko, stated, these investments reflect the company's strategic direction and commitment to enhancing its operational capabilities without the need for physical expansions of the facility's footprint.

This recent development follows a series of investments at the Changzhou site, which include the launch of an advanced production line dedicated to smaller generator systems. Furthermore, a new smart warehousing system has been integrated, along with significant upgrades to existing production lines for medium and large generators. Innovations such as automated guided vehicles and an enhanced manufacturing execution system have also been implemented, further streamlining operations.

The positive outcomes from these investments are already evident, with shipment revenue from the Changzhou facility having doubled since 2020. Additionally, production efficiency has seen a remarkable improvement, with first pass yields rising from 93% to 98%. These metrics reinforce Rehlko's commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence.

The expansion of backup power capacity to 11 GW is a clear testament to Rehlko’s strategic investment program aimed at enhancing both capacity and operational effectiveness. Importantly, these improvements will enable the company to maintain its competitive edge in a rapidly changing global landscape where supply chain resilience is increasingly critical.

Beyond the Changzhou facility, Rehlko is also expanding its operations in other regions, including recent capacity enhancements at facilities in France and the United States. The company is also making strides with strategic acquisitions, such as WB Power Services and Wiltech Acoustics in the UK, which will further fortify its manufacturing platform across various major markets.

With a history spanning over a century, Rehlko has positioned itself at the forefront of the energy resilience sector, combining innovative engineering with robust manufacturing capabilities. Their expertise is particularly recognized in sectors such as healthcare, telecommunications, and data center operations. Rehlko has supplied over 14 GW of data center capacity, primarily engineered for specific needs, illustrating their dedication to tailored solutions for clients.

As global markets continue to evolve, Rehlko's expansion efforts, particularly in Changzhou, signify a proactive approach to addressing increasing power demands. With an ongoing commitment to innovation and excellence, Rehlko is prepared to support its customers through enhanced manufacturing capabilities and comprehensive solutions for mission-critical infrastructure.
