Capital Group Secures FSRA License in Abu Dhabi for Middle East Expansion
Capital Group Expands to the Middle East
Abu Dhabi, UAE – On October 7, 2026, Capital Group, one of the largest and most experienced active investment management firms globally, announced it has successfully secured the financial services license from the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) of Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM). This license allows Capital Group to operate as a regulated investment manager in the region.
With approximately $3.6 trillion in assets under management, Capital Group's new authorization enables activities in trading, investment management, and distribution within ADGM. This regulatory milestone is a significant step in Capital Group's long-term commitment to the Middle East, following their announcement back in May 2026 regarding the establishment of their first office in this region.
Since then, the firm has relocated its partners from North America, Europe, and Asia to bring their investment expertise and operational capabilities closer to clients and emerging opportunities in the region. The local presence is expected to grow over time, aligning with business and client needs.
Benno Klingenberg-Timm, head of the Abu Dhabi office and director of the institutional division for Europe and Asia at Capital Group, stated, "Establishing a regulated presence in Abu Dhabi brings us closer to our clients and investment opportunities throughout the Middle East, a region where we have been active for many years. From day one, we will have a significant on-the-ground presence capable of investment, operations, and client service. Just like our Singapore office opened in 1989, we bring all the expertise of Capital Group to Abu Dhabi, reflecting our confidence in the region's long-term growth."
His Excellency Ahmed Jasim Al Zaabi, chairman of ADGM, welcomed Capital Group's decision. He noted, "We are pleased to welcome Capital Group, a global investment manager, as they establish their presence in Abu Dhabi. This decision reflects the strength of Abu Dhabi's financial ecosystem and ADGM's growing position as a leading international financial center for global institutions seeking long-term opportunities across the region."
Mike Gitlin, CEO of Capital Group, emphasized the strategic importance of the Middle East for their operations: "The attainment of our regulatory license in Abu Dhabi underscores our long-term commitment to the region and our belief in its evolving status as a leading international financial hub. We look forward to strengthening our relationships with clients and partners."
As Capital Group sets its sights on the Middle East, stakeholders are optimistic about the significant potential for growth and investment opportunities in this economically vibrant region. The move signifies not only a new chapter for Capital Group but also a reinforcement of its role in fostering economic development in the area.
With its robust plan for regional engagement and expansion, Capital Group is poised to influence the investment landscape of the Middle East significantly. The firm's established expertise, combined with its strategic local presence, positions it well to cater to the diverse financial needs and aspirations of clients in this pivotal market.
