Deckorators Expands Production with New Manufacturing Plant in Lackawanna, NY

In a strategic move to meet the increasing demand for outdoor living solutions, Deckorators® has officially inaugurated its brand-new manufacturing facility in Lackawanna, New York. This significant expansion marks Deckorators' first manufacturing site in the Northeast and is poised to create 50 new jobs while doubling the production capacity for its innovative decking products.

A New Chapter for Deckorators

The full opening was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, attended by company executives, local officials, and community members. Ryan Kemp, Deckorators' Executive Vice President, emphasized that this facility is a direct response to the growing needs of their retail partners and the increasing market demand for premium outdoor products. "Buffalo is the right place to do this. We’re incredibly proud to be part of this community and excited about what we can build together," said Kemp.

Increased Capacity and Job Opportunities

The Lackawanna facility adds a substantial footprint, featuring a 30-acre site with a combined 253,310 square feet of manufacturing and warehouse space. The new site not only updates an existing structure but also adds a significant 19,000 square-foot extension dedicated to enhancing production capacity. This expansion aims to amplify the manufacturing of their proprietary Surestone® technology decking products, which include the popular Voyage and Summit lines.

Deckorators' Surestone technology is a game changer. It addresses common problems associated with PVC decking, such as cracking and separation, while also ensuring the products remain cooler underfoot and provide better traction in wet conditions. As demand shifts towards higher-performance and uniquely designed products, Deckorators stands out as a key player in meeting those expectations. "Our mineral-based Surestone technology is a clear example of that difference," stated Landon Tarvin, President of UFP Retail Solutions.

A Major Investment in Local Economy

The new plant represents a significant investment, exceeding $77 million, aimed at bolstering local employment and economic growth. This initiative has received strong support from the community and various organizations, including performance-based tax credits and incentives from the Empire State Development (ESD) through the Excelsior Jobs Program, and further assistance from the Erie County Industrial Development Agency (ECIDA). Regional utility services have also contributed to facilitating this project.

Kemp expressed gratitude towards partners across Lackawanna, Erie County, and the State of New York, acknowledging their instrumental role in realizing this project. "We’re proud to build something meaningful together," he remarked.
