Shanghai Electric Strengthens Energy Resilience at CIIF 2025 with Transformative Innovations

Shanghai Electric Showcases Innovations at CIIF 2025

At the 25th China Industry Fair (CIIF 2025) held in Shanghai, Shanghai Electric, a global leader in industrial and energy equipment production, unveiled its latest groundbreaking solutions aimed at enhancing energy security and addressing the challenges of smart manufacturing. The event, which took place from September 23 to 27, 2025, featured the theme "Evolution Never Stops," reflecting Shanghai Electric's commitment to improving the resilience of global supply chains through clean energy and intelligent manufacturing.

Commitment to Sustainability and Precision

With growing demand for energy security and the need for decarbonization, Shanghai Electric is accelerating the transition toward a sustainable and highly precise industrial ecosystem. During CIIF 2025, the company showcased high-end, intelligent, and environmentally-friendly technological innovations across seven sectors: energy, industry, drives, parts, healthcare, environmental protection, heating, and cooling.

Shanghai Electric garnered significant recognition at the fair, winning four awards in the Energy category and two in the Industrial Automation category, making it the most awarded exhibitor of the event. Highlights from their presentation included:
1. Essential equipment for the Hualong One advanced pressurized water reactor (PWR)
2. Next-generation ultra-supercritical steam turbines designed for peak energy demand
3. A robust 300 MW hydrogen gas turbine
4. The LDES No. 1, a dual energy storage system utilizing vanadium-iron flow batteries
5. Advanced algorithms for smart manufacturing and maintenance, along with the use of cutting-edge energy equipment
6. The Spirit Python robot designed for vertical pipe inspection

As China’s sole supplier of essential equipment for high-temperature, gas-cooled nuclear reactors, Shanghai Electric presented their Hualong One and Guohe One reactor models, showcasing their robust capabilities in manufacturing nuclear device technologies of the third and fourth generation. Furthermore, since the year 2000, Shanghai Electric has been a pivotal participant in the "Artificial Sun" nuclear fusion project, serving as one of the foremost suppliers of reactor system equipment for nuclear fusion. At the fair, they highlighted crucial reactor system components such as pressure vessels, thermal shields, coil chambers, and Dewar vessels, underscoring China’s potential for independent innovation in controlled nuclear fusion technology.

Additionally, Shanghai Electric presented a project linking wind energy and biomass for green methanol production in Taonan. This initiative stands as China’s first ecological methanol production project accredited by the EU and ISCC, providing a scalable development path from “electricity-hydrogen-methanol,” leading to decarbonization in sectors such as aviation and cargo transport.

Advancing Smart Manufacturing and Supply Chains

To further strengthen its supply chains, Shanghai Electric is advancing smart manufacturing with integrated solutions in production, chemical engineering, metallurgy, smart cities, and industrial parks. Their high-precision grinding technology, with nanometer-level accuracy for aircraft engine components and robotic joints, enhances diversity within the global advanced manufacturing supply chain.

By leveraging a wide array of industrial solutions and synergies across various sectors, Shanghai Electric has achieved a comprehensive industrial chain ecosystem in robotics, which includes robot bodies, their applications, key components, and essential production equipment. They aim to provide durable and cost-effective automation solutions for worldwide industries. The CIIF 2025 presentation featured specialized robots such as LINGTENG (for pipe inspection), LINGHANG (patrol), LINGYAO (wheeled robot), LINGKE (dual-arm robot), and HENGSUN (used in hip operations), along with components utilized in humanoid robots.

To illustrate the blending of heritage with innovation, Shanghai Electric prepared an exhibit titled "The Age of Energy," showcasing historical artifacts, including China’s first 6000 kW steam turbine measurement device. This reflects the technical reliability and legacy of the company that underpins their megawatt-scale investments globally.

Looking Toward the Future

As for future prospects, Shanghai Electric plans to continue fostering the synergistic evolution of energy and industry, refining and upgrading core technologies for a future characterized by "industrial innovations and smart manufacturing without borders." With new, high-quality production capabilities being a significant driving force for quality development, Shanghai Electric aims to accelerate the new industrialization of Shanghai and China through innovation-driven growth, tangible progress, and top-tier transformation.
