Amazon Drivers in City of Industry Stand Together for Fair Labor Practices

On July 16, 2025, Amazon drivers at the DAX5 delivery center in City of Industry, California, took a stand against their management by marching to demand a union contract and immediate enhancements to their working environment. This powerful gathering reflects a broader movement among Amazon drivers who are rallying for fair treatment and a just work-life balance.

The call for unionization among these drivers comes after persistent issues with last-minute schedule changes and overwhelming work demands. Ivan Alatorre, one of the drivers participating in the march, expressed his frustration, stating, "I'm tired of being taken off the schedule at the last minute, with no regard for how I am going to support my family." He elaborated on how the overwhelming number of packages and demanding routes create a stressful work atmosphere. This sentiment is echoed by many of his colleagues as they seek to join a national wave of Amazon Teamsters fighting for the employment standards they rightly deserve.

The DAX5 drivers are part of a growing coalition, including those from two other Delivery Service Partners (DSPs) stationed at the same facility. They join the ranks of nine additional Amazon workplaces across the nation that have already aligned themselves with the Teamsters Union. In a historic strike last December, Teamsters organized the largest-ever walkout at Amazon, encouraging even more workers to stand in solidarity for their rights.

Randy Korgan, the Director of the Teamsters Amazon Division, reinforced the collective determination of these workers, stating, "We won't allow Amazon to drag down working conditions across our industry." With a history of organizing and striking for worker rights, the Teamsters have long advocated for decent wages and benefits for drivers and warehouse workers alike. Korgan remarked on the unity of Teamsters from various companies, including UPS, as they work together to uphold industry standards that their families rely on.

Over the last few years, nearly 10,000 Amazon employees have joined forces with the Teamsters organization, leveraging strikes, picket lines, and workplace activism to demand changes in the company's exploitative practices. As Aiden Karcher, another DAX5 Teamster, pointed out, "A trillion-dollar corporation should be able to provide us with enough uniforms for the workweek." His comments underscore the lack of basic provisions for workers and highlight their earnest appeal for respect and fairness in the workplace.

Karcher also noted the necessity of having manageable routes that allow time for breaks and basic needs. The absence of such considerations demonstrates a disregard from Amazon for the very employees that contribute significantly to its profits. "We are proud to be Amazon Teamsters, and we will use our worker power to change this company. It's time for all Amazon workers to join this fight," he concluded, echoing the sentiments of many within the growing union movement.

The International Brotherhood of Teamsters, founded in 1903, represents 1.3 million dedicated individuals across the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico. Their mission is to advocate for working people and ensure that they receive fair treatment and benefits. Members of the community and supporters of labor rights are encouraged to stand by the drivers in their pursuit of equitable work conditions and participate in the ongoing fight for workers' rights.
