Kia America Partners with The Nature Conservancy for Freshwater Conservation Efforts

Kia America and The Nature Conservancy Join Forces

Kia America has officially announced an exciting new collaboration with The Nature Conservancy (TNC), a well-respected global organization focused on environmental conservation. This partnership aims to bolster freshwater conservation efforts throughout the United States, a critical initiative that prioritizes the protection of our planet's vital water resources.

A Strategic Investment in Water Conservation

Over the next three years, Kia will invest $3 million to aid TNC in achieving its ambitious goal of conserving 1 million kilometers of rivers and 30 million hectares of lakes, wetlands, and floodplains by 2030. The initiative is set to kick off on World Water Day, March 22, 2025, underscoring the importance of freshwater ecosystems essential for all life.

Russell Wager, Kia America's vice president of marketing, emphasizes the significance of this mission: "Water is one of our most precious resources, and we have a responsibility to help protect it for future generations." Through this collaboration, Kia aims not only to fund projects but to engage local communities and foster awareness about the necessity of protecting and maintaining our freshwater ecosystems.

Goals and Initiatives of the Program

Kia's funding will empower TNC to implement several key initiatives that include:
- Restoring critical wetlands to mitigate flood impacts.
- Improving overall water quality standards.
- Enhancing wildlife habitats crucial for biodiversity.

Furthermore, Kia will support TNC in collaborating with Indigenous and local communities, ensuring that the ecosystems thrive in a sustainable and resilient manner. This collaboration highlights modernizing water infrastructure to promote ecological health and exploring sustainable agricultural water management practices.

"Water is the lifeblood of the planet," remarks Nicole Silk, Global Director of Freshwater Outcomes at TNC. "These systems are essential, feeding communities and sustaining the diversity of life on Earth. We are excited to partner with Kia America in this meaningful effort to protect our ecosystems, support biodiversity, and promote access to clean water."

A Broader Commitment to Environmental Responsibility

This initiative with TNC reflects Kia’s ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship and community engagement. Over the years, the company has expanded its investments in eco-conscious programs, which include global efforts to minimize ocean plastic pollution alongside its new focus on freshwater conservation.

By facilitating the restoration of wetlands and implementing natural solutions, Kia is actively contributing to the development of more resilient communities and creating a healthier planet for future generations.
