First Xingsha Africa Coffee Carnival Opens in Changsha

On October 2, 2025, the first Xingsha Africa Coffee Carnival officially kicked off in Changsha County, located in the central Chinese province of Hunan. This event marks a significant initiative aimed at using coffee as a bridge to bolster economic and trade cooperation between China and Africa.

During the opening ceremony, the highly anticipated Hunan (Changsha) Coffee Industrial Park was inaugurated and began operations. Strategically positioned in the airport zone of Changsha's pilot free trade area, this park is designed to integrate the concepts of an “Airport Hub + China-Africa Cooperation + Hunan Characteristics.” The goal is to establish a comprehensive coffee industry base that encompasses five key functions: production and processing, storage and logistics, scientific and technological innovation services, cultural experiences, and transaction services.

The focus of the new industrial park will be on sourcing coffee bean resources from Africa, thereby creating a distribution center and a trade platform for high-quality African coffee. This initiative aims to close the gap in the domestic supply chain for African coffee, facilitating better access for local consumers to these premium products.

In addition, the Xingsha International Communication Center was also inaugurated during the carnival, further strengthening international ties.

At the event, Chinese coffee brands and African coffee trade enterprises signed ten major projects related to the coffee sector, focusing on coffee processing, trade services, and brand operations. These agreements are expected to enhance collaboration and foster growth in the coffee industry between the two regions.

The carnival will continue until October 3 and features a variety of activities centered around coffee. These include the China-Africa Coffee Industry Salon, networking events between industry stakeholders, and a coffee roasting competition. This vibrant celebration not only highlights the importance of coffee in fostering international relationships but also underscores the economic potential that lies within enhancing trade partnerships between China and Africa.

The Xingsha Africa Coffee Carnival symbolizes a unique opportunity for cultural exchange and economic development, drawing attention to the rich coffee heritage of Africa while promoting mutual cooperation and understanding. Through efforts like these, the global coffee market continues to thrive, platforming essential conversations around commerce and cultural appreciation across continents.
