The renowned Paris Orchestra is set to hold an exciting public master class in Tokyo on June 17, 2025, at the Meguro Persimmon Hall. Conducted by their esteemed music director Klaus Mäkelä, this event promises to be an enriching experience for aspiring musicians and educators alike.

Since its foundation in 1967, the Paris Orchestra has been celebrated for its artistic excellence and commitment to fostering a love for music through educational initiatives. The upcoming master class is part of their ongoing education and outreach efforts, emphasizing “Transmission” of classical music knowledge to future generations. In collaboration with the Tokyo Arts Theater, this is the second master class the orchestra will present, offering a platform for students from the GOA (Geigeki Orchestra Academy for Winds) to engage directly with accomplished players.

During the event, participants will focus on wind instruments and brass performance, honing their skills in orchestral contexts. They will explore essential techniques regarding ensemble playing, musical structure, and performance artistry. This is a rare opportunity to learn from members of one of Europe's premier orchestras and gain insights into the intricacies of orchestral music making.

1. Philippe Berrod (Principal Clarinet): Since 1995, Philippe has elevated the Paris Orchestra with his mastery of the clarinet. He is a recognized soloist and educator, frequently invited to give master classes worldwide.
2. Yuka Sukeno (Bassoon): Bringing experience from various prestigious European orchestras, Yuka is currently a principal bassoonist with the Paris Orchestra. Her academic background is notable, having studied in Japan and Europe.
3. Benoît de Barsony (Principal Horn): Benoît has performed as a principal horn across top European ensembles. A dedicated teacher, he has led master classes and educational programs throughout his career.
4. Guillaume Cottet-Dumoulin (Principal Trombone): Known for his versatility, Guillaume collaborates with various music groups and emphasizes music education within his performances.
5. Stéphane Labeyrie (Principal Tuba): Stéphane, hailed for his exceptional tuba playing, holds accolades from numerous international competitions and is known for his engaging educational contributions.

Note: This event is not open to preschool children, and French interpretation will be provided. Attendees are encouraged to utilize public transportation due to limited parking.
