Strengthening Economic Ties: Highlights from the China-Austria Trade Forum
On March 20, 2025, the China-Austria Economic and Trade Cooperation Forum took place in Vienna, marking a significant event for bilateral relations between China and Austria. This forum was held in conjunction with a promotional event for the third China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE). It attracted over 200 representatives from various commercial and investment promotion agencies, business associations, and companies from both countries.
The forum was an excellent platform for showcasing the upcoming CISCE, with the China International Exhibition Center Group playing a key role. They not only presented the event but also signed cooperation agreements with several prominent Austrian institutions and enterprises. Ren Hongbin, Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), noted the progress achieved in the collaboration between China and Austria across diverse sectors. He expressed China’s commitment to work closely with Austrian partners to leverage complementary strengths in resources and industrial frameworks.
During his speech, Ren encouraged businesses from both nations to explore new avenues for growth and invited Austrian companies and institutions to participate in the upcoming CISCE. He emphasized the importance of fostering environment conducive to international trade and collaboration.
Among the attendees were Christoph Matznetter, Vice President of the Economic Chamber of Austria, and Qi Mei, the Chinese Ambassador to Austria. Matznetter highlighted the forum as a pivotal economic and trade event between Austria and China, emphasizing its significance in strengthening bilateral relationships. He reaffirmed China's role as a reliable partner and praised the CISCE as a leading fair aimed at enhancing international cooperation in industries and supply chains.
The CISCE, recognized as a premier national exhibition focused on supply chains globally, facilitates integration among upstream, midstream, and downstream sectors. Its goal is to connect businesses of all sizes, encourage collaboration between industries, academic institutions, and research bodies, while enhancing interaction between Chinese and multinational corporations. Under the theme "Connecting the World for a Shared Future," the expo has become a crucial platform for promoting international cooperation in manufacturing and supply chains.
Scheduled to take place from July 16 to 20 in Beijing, the 3rd CISCE will feature exhibition areas dedicated to advanced manufacturing, clean energy, intelligent vehicles, and more. More than 300 companies have already confirmed their participation, highlighting the expo's growing significance.
Earlier this year, promotional events for the CISCE occurred in Germany, Switzerland, Portugal, and the United Kingdom, aimed at reinforcing cooperative ties between China and these European countries. These events contribute to expanding and deepening bilateral trade relationships, showcasing the dynamic interaction in global commerce.
In conclusion, the China-Austria Economic and Trade Cooperation Forum and the upcoming CISCE provide a robust framework for fostering deeper economic ties. Participants can look forward to numerous opportunities for collaboration, innovation, and mutual growth in the rapidly evolving global trade landscape.
