Sewa International Launches Fundraising Initiative to Aid Terror Victims in India

Sewa International's New Campaign: Rising From Terror

In a humanitarian response to the recent surge of violence along the contested India-Pakistan border, Sewa International has announced the launch of a fundraising campaign labeled "Rising From Terror." The initiative aims to provide vital assistance to families affected by the recent wave of attacks, particularly those who suffered during a tragic incident involving Hindu tourists in Pahalgam, India.

The violence began with a deadly terrorist assault on innocent visitors, leading to a series of retaliatory military actions from Pakistan, which escalated the conflict and resulted in civilian casualties. Reports confirm that at least 16 individuals lost their lives, with many more displaced as their homes were destroyed in the crossfire. The impacts of this violence are profound, affecting entire communities and amplifying the need for urgent humanitarian aid.

Srikanth Gundavarapu, the National President of Sewa, emphasized the organization’s resolve: "In the face of terror and violence, we will respond with resilience, compassion, and unwavering support. This campaign is about healing, not just the physical wounds, but the emotional and psychological scars left by this violence. We stand united with the families affected by this tragedy and will help them rebuild their lives."

Focus Areas of the Campaign

The fundraising effort will support several key initiatives through the Resilience Fund, dedicated to easing the burden on those directly impacted by terrorism. Here are the primary areas the campaign will address:

1. Emergency Relief: Immediate provisions of food, shelter, medical supplies, and essential services for those most affected by the attacks.
2. Trauma Recovery: Psychological support and counseling services for children and families who have experienced significant loss, aiming to help them navigate their grief and trauma.
3. Rebuilding Efforts: Reconstructive initiatives intended to restore homes, educational facilities, and infrastructure, helping communities return to normalcy while fostering social cohesion.
4. Disaster Preparedness: Investment in long-term strategies designed to equip vulnerable communities with the tools and knowledge necessary to withstand future threats and recover swiftly from them.

Upholding Humanitarian Principles

Sewa International is committed to the protection of life and dignity amidst violence, adhering to universal principles of compassion and unity. Rakhi Israni, National Spokesperson for Sewa, remarked, "The targeting of innocent civilians represents a clear breach of international law and humanitarian values. When such misdeeds occur, it becomes our collective responsibility as a global community to extend solidarity and support to the victims of violence."

By encouraging the public to donate directly to the Resilience Fund via their website, supporters can play an instrumental role in providing both immediate and ongoing assistance to those in need. Contributions will help ensure that communities can recover and become more resilient against future challenges.
