Maeda Eibu's Golden Victory at the World Championship



On September 9, 2025, Okayama University proudly celebrated its student, Maeda Eibu, for her remarkable achievement at the 2025 IBTF World Technical Baton Twirling Championship held in Turin, Italy. Eibu, a first-year student in the Faculty of Education, was awarded the 'Okayama University Student Sports Award (International Sports Award)' for securing a gold medal in the duet category for seniors during this prestigious event.

The ceremony, attended by Okayama University's President, Yoshitomo Nasuh, and other dignitaries such as Vice President Masato Suga, showcased Eibu's successful journey. During her visit, she brought her gold medal and baton, sharing her experiences at the competition and the hard work leading up to her performance.

When asked by President Nasuh about what factors contributed to her outstanding performance, Eibu explained, "In baton twirling, factors such as the difficulty of the moves, accuracy, aesthetics, and expressiveness are all evaluated collectively." She also discussed her passion for teaching younger students, stating, "I currently teach preschoolers and elementary school children at my class, Baton Campbell. I hope to remain involved in baton twirling even after I stop competing myself."

Eibu expressed her gratitude to her family, peers, and instructors, acknowledging their continuous support throughout her journey. She also reflected on the unique experiences from interacting with international participants at the world championship, emphasizing the enriching value of cultural exchange through sports.
