Dive into History with 'Tokiwatari'
The world of education has taken a new turn with the recent update (v1.7.2) of the historical RPG, 'Tokiwatari', developed by SNAPLACE LLC. Released on August 31, this game allows students to travel through Japanese and World history on a single timeline, making learning both fun and engaging. The standout feature of this update is the new “Exam Mode,” where players can select their target exams to tailor the progression and quiz content according to their study needs.
Adventure with Historical Figures
One of the unique aspects of 'Tokiwatari' is its ability to let players team up with historical figures. As players clear each chapter, notable figures from various eras join their party, including the likes of Himiko, Julius Caesar, Oda Nobunaga, Leonardo da Vinci, and Mahatma Gandhi. In total, there are 53 historical figures that can become allies, while approximately 100 unique characters can be encountered throughout the game. Each character comes with their own illustration and skills rooted in historical facts, making the learning experience immersive and interactive. Players will find themselves saying, “The character I memorized yesterday is now fighting in my party today.” This unique juxtaposition anchors the educational experience, enhancing retention of names and eras as part of the player's memory.
Choose Your Exam Mode
The game includes five distinct exam modes to cater to varying grade levels:
- - Comprehensive coverage (both Japanese and World History)
- - Junior high school exam range (Japanese history only)
- - High school exam range (both Japanese and World History)
- - College entrance exam range (World history only)
- - College entrance exam range (Japanese history only)
Players can make their selection at the start of the game and can alter their choice anytime through the settings, enabling continuous learning from junior high through high school with the same data.
Over 2,000 Historical Terms Categorized by Exam Level
The game boasts a comprehensive collection of over 2,000 historical terms, each labeled according to difficulty levels: over 400 for junior high school, over 900 for high school, and the full set for college level. The quizzes, including battle quizzes and era assessments, align with the selected mode’s level and filter out terms based on Japanese or World history. This ensures that players experience quizzes suitable for their learning stage, as the junior high mode doesn’t present World history terms rarely encountered at that level, preventing confusion from irrelevant choices.
Progress Through History with Flexibility
The main narrative of 'Tokiwatari' alternates between Japanese and World history across 47 chapters. With this update, when players finish a chapter and the next one falls outside their selected focus, the game asks whether they want to skip ahead. This innovation allows students who are exclusively studying Japanese history to follow only the relevant chapters and quickly cover their syllabus, while students focusing on World history can do the same. Skipped chapters remain accessible at any time through chapter selection, allowing for a more personalized and focused learning experience.
Enhanced Functionality
The update also includes optimizations for the world map (a precise 2048×1024 grid), improving the smoothness of sailing trips while also conserving battery life and reducing overheating.
