Populous Appoints Loren Supp as Head of Design in the Western U.S.

Loren Supp as the new Senior Principal and Head of Design for the Western U.S. This strategic appointment is set to strengthen the design quality of Populous' projects across its offices in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Portland. Supp's extensive background in leading intricate design projects aligns perfectly with Populous’ commitment to excellence in architecture and design.
Based in the Los Angeles office,
Loren Supp will not only oversee project design efforts but will also collaborate with Scott Capstack, the Global Director and Head of Design of the Americas, to elevate the overall design philosophy within the region. His role is crucial as Populous aims to cultivate a culture of design innovation and quality.
Jonathan Mallie, Global Director and Managing Director of the Americas at Populous, praised Supp, stating, “Loren is a highly respected design leader with distinct vision and deep expertise in large-scale, complex projects.” His track record of leading diverse projects, including sports venues, cultural institutions, and major airports, showcases his ability to handle the multifaceted challenges that large-scale designs entail.
Loren Supp has previously teamed with Populous from 2008 to 2011, and he brings over 20 years of experience in the design industry. He has a notable portfolio filled with award-winning projects, such as the Shell Energy Stadium in Houston and the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. His design philosophy is complemented by his proficiency in integrating advanced technologies, including
artificial intelligence and parametric methodologies, ensuring that Populous remains forward-thinking in its approach to architectural design.

In addition to his design roles, Supp serves on the Board of Trustees for
ArtsFund, a prominent nonprofit in Washington that supports arts and culture. He is also a visiting instructor at the University of Washington, reflecting his commitment to education and mentorship within the design field. Supp holds a Master of Architecture from the
University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from the
University of Washington, further solidifying his credentials as a leader in the industry.
