Celebrating Pittsburgh's Culinary Heritage at the Taste of the Draft for GENYOUth's Cause

Taste of the Draft: A Culinary Celebration with a Purpose

On April 22, 2026, the city of Pittsburgh will come alive with a unique blend of culinary excellence, football spirit, and philanthropy at the much-anticipated Taste of the Draft event. This gathering, presented by PNC Bank, in collaboration with the Pittsburgh Steelers and VisitPITTSBURGH, aims to raise crucial funds to tackle student hunger through the nonprofit organization GENYOUth.

A Night of Celebration and Community Engagement

Held at The Tower at PNC Plaza from 4-7 p.m. ET, this exclusive occasion will showcase top chefs from Pittsburgh’s diverse food scene alongside NFL legends and community leaders. Hosted by the renowned chef and Emmy-winning personality Andrew Zimmern, the event emphasizes the strong community spirit that defines Pittsburgh.

This culinary festivity aligns with the rich traditions of Taste of the NFL, a significant philanthropic culinary event that coincides with Super Bowl celebrations. Attendees can look forward to experiencing Pittsburgh's cultural diversity through tantalizing dishes from over 20 local restaurants.

A Culinary Showcase

Some of the exciting participating venues include Di'Anoia's Eatery, Ritual House, Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steakhouse, and Primanti Bros., among others. The event promises to delight every palate with a plethora of flavors, from beloved traditional dishes to modern culinary masterpieces. Moreover, aspiring cooks from local culinary high schools, facilitated through the American Dairy Association Northeast and the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation’s ProStart program, will have the opportunity to work alongside professional chefs.

Guests can enjoy a variety of beverages, including fine wines from Sonoma County and craft cocktails from local distilleries, alongside Pittsburgh's cherished cookie table tradition. This mix of food, drink, and fun provides an excellent atmosphere for networking and community building.

Celebrity Meet and Greets

Football enthusiasts will relish the chance to connect with renowned Steelers players and NFL legends, such as Fred Baxter, Michael and Maurice Pouncey, and Vince Williams. An array of activities will entertain guests throughout the evening, including live performances, interactive experiences, and a silent auction featuring unique memorabilia.

Every ticket holder will receive a commemorative football for autographs, adding a personal touch to this unforgettable evening.

Making a Difference to Combat Student Hunger

Taste of the Draft plays a pivotal role in supporting GENYOUth's mission to combat student food insecurity across Pennsylvania. With the support of local sponsors such as Wabtec Corporation, the goal is to distribute grants to 91 schools, helping provide necessary nutrition equipment and expanding access to meals for underserved communities. Over 50,000 students are anticipated to benefit from this initiative, which aims to ensure all children have access to healthy meals and opportunities for physical activities.

According to GENYOUth's CEO Ann Marie Krautheim, this event serves as a vital reminder of the role communities play in securing a brighter, healthier future for children. Tackling student hunger allows them to thrive both academically and socially.

As Dan Rooney, Vice President of Strategy at the Pittsburgh Steelers, puts it, this combination of food, football, and philanthropy strengthens community ties and reflects their commitment to support youth and families across the region.
